After its recent introduction of the ‘Instant Video Message’ feature, WhatsApp returns with another delightful feature, much for its users’ convenience. WhatsApp Web introduces a new ‘Screen lock’ feature to enhance user privacy and data security.

It can be figured, WhatsApp is taking severe majors to protect user’s privacy and security. The platform first introduced an in-app biometric lock to protect chats. Later it introduced another effective feature to lock and hide individual Whatsapp chats and now it is introducing an ultimate feature to secure user privacy, the ‘Screen Lock’ feature.

As per the WABetaInfo report, the new feature is a part of the latest beta version of Whatsapp web (2.2333.11) that is currently limited to selected beta testers. The feature is under experimentation and will be available in the ‘Privacy’ section of ‘Setting’ in the menu bar. Once enabled to the public.

The features ensure extreme privacy for the user. On enabling the feature, no invader will be obliged to learn of the user’s personal affairs. The feature automatically disables ‘Push Notification’ when the chat is closed. This way the feature allows users flexible sharing of gadgets as the chats can’t be disclosed without the set password.

To be noted, on enabling the feature, the user will need to enter the password every time they open their WhatsApp chat. In case the user forgets the password, they will need to log out of their account. And will have to log in again by scanning the QR with their smartphones.

Chats will be visible only to the password owner making it the user’s responsibility to keep the key to his privacy and security intact to themselves. Users have the freedom to configure the prompt in which the screen lock will appear.
