In recent reports, Meta has announced that the most used messaging platform Whatsapp has enhanced its privacy and will now have the Chat Lock feature in the updated Android and iOS versions of Whatsapp. This announcement was made on Monday for all WhatsApp users globally.

WhatsApp Now Lets You Lock Your Chats To Enhance Your Privacy

Whatsapp has been working on its privacy for a long time. In the past years, WhatsApp has improved privacy via end-to-end encryption, blocking snapshots on one-time messages, disappearing messages, and even more, which signifies Whatsapp’s importance to privacy.

Following its practices, WhatsApp made a step forward in enhancing privacy by introducing the Chat lock feature for all its users globally.

The chat lock feature lets users push their most private chats into a secret folder away from the eyes of anyone who might end up opening their WhatsApp. The locked chats in the folder will be accessible by the user through a password or biometrics like a fingerprint as per their settings.

“This feature lets you protect your most intimate conversations with a password, secures them in a separate folder, and when someone messages you, and you have that chat locked, the sender’s name and the content of the message will also be hidden. Even if other people have access to your phone, everyone is entitled to privacy,” says the official statement.

One can easily enable the Chat lock feature in their WhatsApp by firstly updating WhatsApp to its latest version. Then tapping the chat lock option below the disappearing message option in the one-one or group profiles.

To access the locked chats, one must pull down the inbox and authenticate with the password or biometric used while locking the chat.

This feature also hides the name and message of the sender when the chat is locked in the folder. Also, this can be done for multiple chats and groups with the same procedure.

Users can easily access the Chat Lock feature by updating their WhatsApp to the recently updated version on their Android and iOS devices.

In the coming times, the company aims to improve privacy and is looking forward to adding more features to the chat lock, such as locking for companion devices and custom passwords. Meta said that 2 billion people worldwide use WhatsApp’s messaging and video-calling; hence, privacy is the priority.

How to Use WhatsApp Chat Lock

WhatsApp has unveiled a new privacy feature called Chat Lock as part of its ongoing commitment to bolster user privacy and security. The feature adds an additional layer of protection to individual chats, providing users with more control over their messaging privacy. Chat Lock joins other existing privacy features such as end-to-end encryption, encrypted backups, disappearing messages, and screenshot blocking, among others.

To make use of Chat Lock on WhatsApp, users need to follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Ensure that you have downloaded or updated WhatsApp to the latest version on your Android or iOS device.

Step 2: Open WhatsApp and navigate to the specific chat that you wish to lock.

With Chat Lock enabled, WhatsApp users can enjoy increased privacy and peace of mind, knowing that their confidential conversations are safeguarded. This new feature aligns with WhatsApp’s commitment to delivering a secure and private messaging experience for its vast user base.

By continually introducing features like Chat Lock, WhatsApp aims to cater to the growing demand for enhanced privacy measures in an increasingly digital world. As the need for secure communication becomes more crucial, WhatsApp strives to empower its users by providing them with robust privacy controls and encryption technologies.

WhatsApp’s introduction of the Chat Lock feature signifies another step forward in prioritizing user privacy. As the messaging platform evolves, users can expect further developments that safeguard their confidential conversations, ensuring a more secure messaging experience.
