Recently, I interviewed at Samsung R & D Banglore, India for the role of a software engineer.

I am a 2022 graduate so the interview is for the fresher role. There was a total of 5 rounds in the recruitment process consisting of 3 rounds of Online Assessment + 1 round of technical interview + 1 round of HR interview.

Round 1: 1st round is an Online test on cubes consisting of Technical MCQs and 2 coding questions.
The level of coding questions is medium.

Round 2: After clearing 1st round, you get the mail for the next Samsung SWE certification round having details configure your system for testing.So, 2nd round was a Samsung SWE certification round consisting of 1 coding question in 3 hrs. The question level was medium to hard. You have to pass all the test cases (50 in my case) to clear this round. You only get 10 attempts for code submission. The result will be known just after you end the test.
This round is phone proctored means you have to put your phone in such a way that you and the laptop screen are both visible from the right angle. A proctor is always watching you. So no chance of cheating at all.

For me,…After this hiring freezes for 1.5 months. I got disheartened.

After clearing this, …the technical interviews are expected but they introduce another round by stating that- “we have some changes in policy in the recruitment process”.
So, later round 3 mail comes.

Round 3: 3rd round is another Samsung SWE for professionals having 1 coding question solved in 4 hrs. The question level is hard. Here you have to solve more than 60% of questions to clear this round and rubbing salt on the burn is you never know how many test cases you had passed. You only get 10 attempts to submit the test cases. The result will be known just after you end the test. This round is also phone proctored.

Round 4: After all this exhaustion, a technical interview happens. The interviewer was friendly to me but many also get rude. He asked 3 DSA questions and some questions on OOPs, Operating systems, Networking, and DBMS. The duration of the interview is 1-1.5 hrs and the level was medium.

Finally, after another 20 days, wait HR interview takes place.

Round 5: Resume-based questions were asked and some typical HR questions were expected. They asked me about the expected CTC and I told them that I expect only a market standard hike on my current CTC. The interview went very well.

Final verdict- Rejected

Here is the truth.

  • After some days got a rejection mail without stating any reason.
  • I got highly demotivated and write several emails to different HR of Samsung about the reason and one of them told me that the reason maybe it is the expected CTC.
  • I don’t understand why companies ask for expected CTC when they can’t even afford a 1-2 lakhs hike on the offered CTC.
  • And if it was a problem, then HR should tell us that they can’t afford this CTC so that we can negotiate it.

So, At last, everything goes in vain and I got rejected after giving so much time.
