Post-matric scholarships have been launched nationwide for students of backward classes. Like other scholarship schemes, the post-matric scholarship for minorities is also popular for its benefits. What is a Post-Matric Scholarship? 

The post-matric scholarship is a great initiative of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India for the students belonging to the minority category, pursuing a post-matric course. It aims to provide financial support to students for their higher studies in a notified institution in India in a government or private school. This may include residential Government institutes and eligible private institutes recognized by the State Government and Union Territory Administration concerned. 

It is important to note that a minimum of 30% of the scholarship is reserved for girl students. In case, there is no sufficient number of eligible female students available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.

Post Matric scholarship is provided to the students who are studying in any Govt. or Private institutions in India. Post Matric scholarship is available for students who are studying from class 11 to Ph.D.

Post Matric Scholarship – Courses 

The scholarship will cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes XI and XII level which also include Polytechnics and other courses.

Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility Criteria 

The students who want to apply for Post Matric Scholarship must have the following criteria – 

  • Candidates must belong to a minority community [Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis)]
  • Candidates must be Indian Citizenship.
  • The candidate’s annual family income from all sources must not exceed INR 2 Lakh.
  • In previous exams, the applicant must have secured a minimum of 50% marks. 

Post Matric Scholarship Benefits

How to Apply Post Matric Scholarship Online? 

The eligible candidates have to follow the following steps to apply post matric scholarship online application.

  • Visit the official website of National Scholarship Portal- scholarships.gov.in.

  • On the NSP homepage, you have to click on the ‘Ministry of Minority Affairs’ button that appears under the ‘State Schemes’.
  • Follow the ‘Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities Guidelines’ very carefully.
  • Now click on the ‘New Registration’ if you are a new candidate.

  • You have to fill in the correct and valid information in the registration form such as name, email ID, phone number, etc.
  • For mobile number verification, you will get an OTP at the time of registration. Verify this with the generated OTP.
  • After verification, you will get a generated username and password.

  • Log in to the NSP website by using a username and password.
  • You will get the application form on the next page after logging in. Fill out the application form with all the required information.

Post Matric Scholarship – Key Documents 

The following documents are needed to apply for the Post Matric Scholarship application.

  • Community certificate in which community a candidate belongs.
  • Passport size photo
  • Institution Verification Form.
  • Applicant’s Permanent address proof
  • Applicant’s Bank Account details.
  • Aadhaar Card of the applicant.
  • Mark sheet of the previous examination 
  • Fee Receipt of current year’s course 
  • Income declaration from govt authorities.
  • Residential Certificate
  • Domicile certificate, if required

Post Matric Scholarship Renewal Scheme 

If a candidate was already awarded Post Matric Scholarship benefits in the previous year, he/she has to renew his/her application during the next academic year. He/she should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the exams.

Post Matric Scholarship Result 

Once the online application procedure is completed, the institute will verify the application forms and then submit them for further verification. The final result of the Post Matric Scholarship will be announced by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. Applicants can check their results on the official website of NSP, scholarships.gov.in. Selected candidates will get the scholarship amount directly to their bank accounts.
