I recently secured an off-campus opportunity with PayPal for the Summer Internship 2024. Here, I am sharing my career’s first interview and how it unfolded.

Round 0 – Resume Screening Round:

My resume was shortlisted for the off-campus internship at PayPal, and I received the details for further steps.

Round 1 – Online Assessment:

Speaking about Round 1, it was a 1-hour session with 10 questions—9 MCQs and 1 coding question. The MCQs were based on computer fundamentals such as DBMS, OS, web technology, and computer networks. Addressing the coding question, it was a moderately to hard-level challenge involving designing a music player based on song preferences. Although the question was lengthy and initially challenging to understand, I managed to grasp it after some time.

Round 2 – Technical Interview:

After successfully clearing the Online Assessment, approximately 10 days later, I received an email for the Technical Interview. The interviewer was highly experienced, with 11-12 years in the field, and displayed a friendly demeanour. As the interview began, he advised me to take it lightly and started by inquiring about data structures, the differences between various data structures, and their applications. Subsequently, he delved into Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, with a detailed discussion on classes and objects. The interview further covered questions about projects, the steps taken in building them, and other general tech-related inquiries. The coding question posed during this round was an easy-level Array/ArrayList problem, which I successfully solved within 5-10 minutes. Different approaches were also discussed.

Round 3 – HR Round:

Unfortunately, I did not proceed to the next stage.

Conclusion:

Despite a positive technical interview experience where I answered most questions, I was not selected. The reason remains unclear, as I am unaware of the internal screening process. Conclusively, it was a valuable experience with such a reputable company. I am eagerly looking forward to upcoming opportunities.

Tips :

  • Prepare Cs fundamentals well like Dbms, oops & OS.
  • Don’t speak fascinating words to impress the interviewer.
  • Try to be clear & use KeyWords for every answer.
  • Prepare standard DSA questions.
  • Confidence >>> Knowledge.
