nVent came to our campus for On-Campus placements in the month of August. The best thing I found about the company was that they were very friendly in their interview process and very very helpful too.
Coming to the process now…
It was a 2-day process that had two parts:

Day 1: PPT round and online assessment
Day 2: Interview Day

There were 5 rounds in total. Let’s walk through the rounds now…

1) Shortlisting through CGPA and Resume:

Around 200+ students sent their resumes and based on CGPA and Resume, 100 students were shortlisted for the next round which is Online Assessment. It was observed that people with a CGPA of 9 and above were mostly shortlisted.

Tip: Try to keep your resume to one page.

DAY 1: PPT and Online Assessment

2) Online Assessment:

This was a 90 minutes test. There were 40 mcqs on computer fundamentals and 2 coding questions. The coding questions had max weightage and were of Leetcode medium category. Also, focus on MCQs too!

Tip: It does not matter whether you are able to solve both the coding questions or even half…what they see is the amount of effort you put in to solve the question. Their software analyzes all the code changes you made during the 90 mins. Make sure you don’t write simple if-else blocks to just pass sample test cases! They make sure to check the efforts made by the individual to solve questions and not just the overall score

After the completion of day 1, we got the results of the selected candidates at 11:30 pm in the night. They take time to go through each one’s codes so expect the results late.

Tip: The interview will be the very next day so start preparing as soon as you get back from home on day 1

Out of 100 students 25 students qualified for the next round i.e for day 2: interview day

DAY 2: Interview Day

3) Group Activity :

Mind that this is a Group activity and not a group discussion!
All the students were divided into groups of 5 and were given the task of making something out of resources provided to them. In our case, it was to make a tall structure out of newspapers in 18 minutes. It is a fun activity and you will enjoy this round.

Tip: Try to be a team player as your individual participation will be evaluated and don’t be rude or rigid

This is a Non-elimination round! But its score will be considered after tech round 1 and will be considered for the entire process

2) Tech Round 1:

Every participant from the Group activity was allowed to sit for tech round 1. The questions were mostly about Computer fundamentals and basic DSA.
I was asked some basic questions about compute networks, database management systems operating systems. Also, a few SQL queries were asked such as finding the nth highest salary to me. They asked me one of the sorting algorithms and later asked me to write pseudo code on paper.

Tip: Be confident and prepare core subjects and basic DSA well for this round. Follow the GFG core subjects section for preparation of Computer fundamentals

Out of 25, 10 students progressed to the next round based on their performance in Group activity and Tech Round 1:

4) Tech Round 2:

This round mainly focuses on Data structures and algorithms. I was asked 5-6 questions on topics such as graphs, trees, DFS, 2-pointer, linked lists, stacks, and queues. I was given questions one by one and then was asked to tell the approach and the time complexity along with the dry run. I was asked questions such as

Tip: Just be vocal about what you are thinking! Make sure you speak your mind and clear any doubts related to the questions. Striver SDE sheet is the one I followed and most of the questions were from them.

5) HR Round:

Around 6 people qualified for the HR round. This round was focused mostly on your projects so make sure you are thorough with whatever you have mentioned on your resume. I was also asked to draw the component diagram of one of my projects. Along with this, some behavioral questions were asked.

Finally, 5 students were selected for the position of Software developer at nVent Thermal Management and I was fortunate to be one of them. This was my first interview and was a great experience as the company employees were very helpful and understood the fresher’s mindset.

Best of luck !
