nVent visited our campus in the first week of August. Writing this because this was one unique hiring experience I have had in campus. Firstly, they shortlisted the candidates on the basis of CGPA for every semester(Students with 8+ CGPA in every semester were shortlisted in our college). 99 candidates were shortlisted. Then there was a pre-placement talk and the online assessment the same day on-campus. Online Assessment consists of 2 DSA questions and 40 MCQs based on the CS fundamentals. I could solve only one question and was done with the MCQs. Surprisingly, they went through each and every candidate’s code after the Online Assessment. They shortlisted all those candidates whose approach to the problems they liked. The interview process involved 4 rounds. Marshmallow test, Technical Round 1, Technical Round 2, and HR Round.

Round 1

28 students were shortlisted for the interview rounds. Firstly, there was a marshmallow test and no one was eliminated in this round. In the Round 1 of the process, they straightaway started with questions from OS, DBMS, OOPS, DSA, and CN. Being Honest and Confident is the key here. It went for around 45 minutes. They shortlisted 17 candidates after Round 1.

Round 2

Round 2 was very crucial and this was a programming round. Leetcode Medium questions were asked mostly on the non-linear data structures(Trees, Graphs), you had to think out loud for the question you were solving. I was asked Red-Black Trees, 0/1 knapsack, and Lowest Common Ancestor(BST) 6 candidates were shortlisted for HR Round. I was rejected after this round.

Final Selected – 5

Verdict: Rejected
