A Hub of Transformative Experiences

My professional name is Shrasti Agrawal and I study at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology in Greater Noida. As a 3rd-year student pursuing a specialization in Data Science within the CSE department, my journey here has been a tapestry of growth, challenges, and self-discovery.

First Year: Academic Realizations and Personal Evolution
My initial year was defined by an intense pursuit of academic excellence. However, as the semesters unfolded, I realized that achieving good scores didn’t always require exhaustive efforts. This realization made me balance academics with personal development. Interacting with many people helped me inculcate confidence and adaptability.

Second Year: Discovering new hobbies and college cultural events

Being an introvert, participating in two major cultural events marked a turning point in my college life. Portraying Sita in the Diwali fest and representing Bihar in another event named” padharo mhare desh ” introduced me to the world of acting and that boosted my confidence a lot as everyone there complimented me for my acting skills and praised me. These experiences on stage not only broadened my circle but also made me discover my new interests and hobbies.

College Fests: A turning point

College fests play an important role in the engineering journey and it somehow turned me into an ambivert as I socialized with many extroverts I explored my unknown side of being an actor and a socializer and I enjoyed it but it did affect my academics.

About Placements: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges

Entering the third year sheds light on the placement scenario. The placement department is not so much active in my college but still, the number of placements in the college remains good maybe because of student’s effort and faculty’s cooperation The absence of campus internships for third-year students and a one-person-one-company rule for final-year students in a three-tier college posed challenges. However, the overall placement count remains good.

Learning Curve and Social Revelations

My college journey wasn’t devoid of challenges. Being introverted, initiating conversations and making connections was a challenge for me. Limited social interaction in the initial year led to isolation when friends found new circles. This experience was a wake-up call that made me realize the importance of big circles and community and also taught me that two friends are not enough to survive in college. Joining the GFG student chapter and other communities opened doors to a vibrant social life, emphasizing the importance of balanced socializing during college years.

Conclusion: Embracing Growth Beyond Academics

Currently, I am in my third year with a lot of life experience but a little less tech experience. This year gave me the pressure of placements and made me return to my academics and tech skills. Leaving behind the cultural clubs and societies and choosing isolation was the need of the moment this time. Due to the recession, my seniors are struggling very much with the placements and that haunts me when I think of myself. My journey at NIET has been a transformative saga.

Balancing cultural, academic and social life gave me experiences and lessons that will be helpful for me beyond the college gates
