Examinations:

One can get admission to NIE Mysuru for B.E courses in any one of the three following ways:

  1. KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test)
  2. COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Under Graduate Entrance Test)
  3. Management

KCET is a state-level entrance test exclusively for the students of Karnataka. It is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

COMEDK is a national-level entrance test for admission to engineering institutions in Karnataka. Students of other states can get admission into engineering colleges of Karnataka by writing COMEDK.

Management seat is the payment seat that the college offers.

My experience:

I got into NIE Mysuru through KCET. I wrote KCET in the year 2020 in the offline mode amidst the pandemic prevailing back then. As my course was PCMB in 12th, I had written 4 papers for KCET, which is otherwise only 3 papers (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) for non-Biology branches like PCMC, PCME, and PCMS.

KCET was conducted for 2 days. The first day in the morning session was Biology paper, followed by Mathematics in the afternoon session. Physics and Chemistry were conducted on the second day. each paper was for 60 marks. All the questions were of the type Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs).

The results were declared 15-20 days after the examination. KCET considers the marks obtained in PCMB subjects in the 12th board examination along with the marks obtained in the entrance exam. KECT also allots seats considering the various quotas like SC/ ST/ OBC/ Ex-military etc. After a few days, the counseling process started. At first, you will be allowed to enter your preferred choices of colleges and branches in the order of your preferences. After which first a mock round of results was declared. Within a week the first round of results was declared, and I got the seat for the ECE branch of NIE Mysuru. I waited for the second round of results, but the result remained the same (there is very little chance of changes in results in the second round and all further rounds). I proceeded with the admission process after the second round. Once you start the admission procedure, the first step is the payment of a fee to the government as the seat you get through KCET is a government seat. After successful payment of the fee to the government, the candidate must go to the college for further admission procedures.

At NIE Mysuru campus:

I went to the NIE campus and finished the admission process. I was asked to produce copies of marks cards for 10th, and 12th, ID proofs along with some other documents. The procedure was completed in almost 1.5 to 2 hours. This step was completed in December 2020, the complete KCET procedure took almost 2 months. The second round was also followed by an extended round.

4k rank in KCET | 97.8% in 12th | 98.4% in 10th
