The Chief Minister of Telangana is an important face in the governance and political landscape. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was the first CM of Telangana. He served as the CM of Telangana from 2 June 2014 to 6 December 2023. During his tenure, he launches many schemes like the Rythu Badhu scheme and Mission Bhagiratha to help the rural people of the state.

Telangana is a newly formed state. It was officially formed on June 2, 2014, after being separated from the state of Andhra Pradesh. According to the 2011 census, Telangana’s overall literacy rate is 66 per cent. As of 2023, the total population of Telangana is 35.6 million which makes it the 12th most populous state of India. Telangana has a total land area of approx 112,077 square kilometres which makes it the 11th largest state in India in terms of land area.

Anumula Revanth Reddy Began showing interest in politics while studying for his graduation. He served as president of the All India Students’ Federation (AISF) After that he joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party in 2003. Elected as an independent candidate to the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) in 2006.Joined the TDP in 2008 and contested the Kodangal constituency in year 2009 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. Elected to the Lok Sabha from the Malkajgiri constituency in the 2019 general elections.

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao is the first chief minister of Telangana. He served as the first chief minister from 2 June 2014 to 12 December 2018. He has served for two terms as CM of Telangana making a total tenure of over 9 years as CM. He is also known as KCR. He is a member of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party and he was also the Founder of the TRS political party, Founded on 27 April 2001. The sole objective of the TRS party was achieving statehood for Telangana. During his tenure as CM, he launched many welfare schemes like( Rythu Badhu, Mission Bhagiratha, Dalit Bandhu and 24*7 free electricity for agriculture)to help rural peoples of his state.

Longest Serving Chief Minister of Telangana

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao is the longest-serving chief minister of Telangana. He has served as CM for two terms which makes a total of 9 years of tenure . He is popularly known as KCR. He was born on 17 February 1954 in Chintamadaka Village, Medak District, Telangana. He completed his early education at his village school after that he pursued a degree in B.Sc. (Agricultural Sciences) from Osmania University.

KCR’s political journey began in his student days when he actively participated in the Telangana movement, advocating for a separate state for the Telugu-speaking region . In 2001, he left the INC and formed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to spearhead the separate statehood movement.He played a crucial role in leading negotiations with the central government, ultimately achieving Telangana’s statehood in 2014. He became the first Chief Minister of Telangana and led the TRS to victory in consecutive assembly elections in 2014 and 2018. He served as Chief Minister from 2014 till 2023.
