“The true measure of success is how many times you can bounce back from failure.” — Stephen Richards

Hello readers, today I am here to share my Interview Experience at Johnson Controls India for the IT intern role. This was a Campus drive, but I hope it helps those who are applying on campus and off campus too.

There were three rounds in the entire process basically. They were: –

  • Online Test
  • Technical Interview
  • Managerial Round

I will discuss all three rounds in detail. Please read further.

Round 1 – Online Test:

  • Number of Questions: 75
  • Time Duration: 60 minutes
  • Difficulty Level: Easy – Medium

It was a Screening test just to filter out candidates. The list of shortlisted students was sent by the company, and only those students were allowed for the test, around 400 students applied but only 100 were shortlisted (approx. numbers). Questions covered a lot of Core Computer Science subjects like Data Structures, Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming, and Software Engineering mostly. There were no Coding questions in this round. Questions like selecting the correct output of code written in Java, C++, and C were present. The test was conducted in the company’s own portal whose link was sent by our TPO and we just had to register by filling up the details 15 minutes and selecting our domain before the start of the test. So basically, the domain is like which profile you wish to work for. Roles available were Application Development, Data Analyst, Infrastructure, and Business Analysis (roles available based on vacancies). The Questions were easy to medium level, just your time management skills will be put to the test. So, be prepared.

Results in my case were declared within two days. Out of 100 candidates who appeared for the test only 20 were selected.

Round 2 – Technical Interview:

  • Time Duration: 30 minutes maximum
  • Difficulty Level: Easy – Medium
  • Requisites: 2 copies of your Resume / CV with your photograph.

Topics covered: Object Oriented Programming, SQL, Projects that you mention on your Resume / CV (Web Technologies, Mobile Development, Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning) and Internships (if any), Some behavioural Questions may be asked, Coding Some behavioural asked from Linked lists, Arrays, Strings, STL, Advanced Data Structures, Dynamic Programming.

For coding problems, if you can convince the interviewer with your approach that you can code it easily, it will do the task for you. Some questions include: –

  • Introduce yourself.
  • What are constructors, and their types?
  • What is the most basic difference between GET and POST requests?
  • What are access modifiers?
  • What is RESTful API?
  • Which is the slower language python or C++?

I was also asked some behavioural questions which included: –

  • Why do you want to join Johnson Controls?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • Do you have any questions for me?

Results were declared immediately after your interview was over. mostly the slightest of basics are taken into consideration.

Round 3 – Managerial Round

  • Time Duration: 30 minutes maximum
  • Difficulty Level: Easy – Medium
  • Requisites: 2 copies of your Resume / CV with your photograph.

Topics covered: Object Oriented Programming, SQL, Projects that you mention on your Resume / CV (Web Technologies, Mobile Development, Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning) and Internships (if any), also Some behavioural Questions may be asked, Coding Questions may be asked from Linked lists, Arrays, Strings, STL, Advanced Data Structures, Dynamic Programming.

For coding problems, if you can convince the interviewer with your approach that you can code it easily, it will do the task for you.

In this round, I was asked about the project management approach. They were as follows: –

  • What do you know about Johnson Controls?
  • What is Agile methodology?
  • What is the Waterfall model?
  • How is the Waterfall model different from the Agile Model?
  • Do you know anything about SAP?
  • Do you have any questions for us?

The result for this round was declared within a week, where 5-6 students were given Offer letters.

Overall, it was a nice experience, but the process was quite long.

Best wishes to all.
