I am a dedicated student with a passion for AI/ML. Recently, I had the opportunity to share my experience in the highly competitive JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations, which are pivotal for aspiring engineering and technical students in India.

My Rank:

Exam Preparation:

My journey of preparation for these exams spanned 2 years (2021-2023), during which I immersed myself in rigorous study sessions, problem-solving drills, and consistent practice. The resources I utilized ranged from trusted textbooks and online study materials to interactive coaching classes that provided valuable insights and exam strategies.

Exam Experience:

The experience of writing the JEE Main can be intense and demanding. Here are some key aspects of the experience that I encountered:

  • Extensive Preparation: Many students, including myself, spend years preparing for the JEE Main. Starting our preparations during the 11th and 12th-grade years and joining coaching institutes helped enhance our knowledge and problem-solving skills significantly.
  • Exam Structure: The JEE Main is a computer-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each section carries equal weight, testing a candidate’s understanding of fundamental concepts, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills.
  • Time-Pressure: With strict time constraints for each section, efficiently managing time to attempt all questions becomes crucial during the exam.
  • High Competition: The JEE Main is one of the most competitive exams globally, with a vast number of applicants competing for limited seats in top engineering colleges. The competition is tough, and the cutoff scores are generally high.
  • Stress and Pressure: The high stakes and intense competition often lead to significant stress and pressure among students, making the exam mentally and emotionally challenging.
  • Multiple Attempts: In recent years, JEE Main has offered multiple attempts, allowing candidates to improve their scores by taking the exam on different dates.
  • Exam Centers: JEE Main is conducted in various exam centres across the country, with candidates selecting their preferred test location during the application process.
  • Results and Counseling: After the exam, results are published, and candidates are ranked based on their performance. Those scoring well can participate in counselling and seat allocation for various engineering institutions after applying for JAC counselling

Insights and Advice:

While achieving a good rank in JEE Main is crucial, it’s also essential to consider the long-term implications of decisions like taking a drop year. Let’s consider an example:

Imagine two students, A and B, both qualified in JEE Main with ranks 10k and 50k, respectively. Student A secured admission to a Tier 1 college, while Student B got to a Tier 3-4 college. Student B decides to take a drop year, hoping for better opportunities.

After one year of hard work, Student B also secures admission to a Tier 1 college. However, this decision has set Student B back by a year compared to Student A. Fast forward four years, and Student A is already earning significantly more than Student B, who is still in their 3rd year.

Therefore, my most honest advice is to avoid taking a drop year unless necessary.

Focus on improving your skills for Freshers CS Major students:-

  • Starts interacting With Seniors is like Ram-बाण type so this will be at first in your priority list
  • Focus on DSA with a programming language ( For me C++ ). Try to complete it before 2nd year starts
  • Build Projects, should be Deployed
  • starts participating in Contests Of various Competitive Programming platforms like Codeforces, and Codeshef. This will help to build your resume

Make the best of the opportunities available, and remember that success is not just about the college you graduate from but also about your continuous growth and learning throughout your journey.

IN THE END, BE FIT _ BE HIT

Conclusion:

The competitive exam experience was not just a test of academic knowledge but also a testament to resilience and determination. It prepared me not only for the exams but also for the challenges that lie ahead in my academic and professional journey. With the right mindset, strategic preparation, and continuous learning from mistakes, success in JEE Main and similar exams is achievable.
