Hi, I’m currently doing my graduation in Information Technology from KIET Group of Institutions Ghaziabad. Today in this article I will be going to share the experiences and learning I gained from the challenging journey of Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) 2019.

JEE is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year for admission to various engineering and architecture courses in India. Every year more than 10 LAKH students appear for this exam. The National Testing Agency(NTA) has divided the JEE exam into two exams JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. JEE Mains is the preliminary exam and after you clear mains, you step towards advanced.

Despite my efforts and dedication, I failed to secure a seat in IIT or NIT. However, I learned valuable lessons like exam preparation, time management, resilience, and dealing with failure from this journey. After completing my 12th Grade, I was confused about my career also faced by many but then I decided to move ahead with engineering as I loved Maths and aptitude. After giving my first attempt in 2018 I secured 45 percentile which made me realize that this exam is something not made for me, but after a few days, I changed my mind to make one more trial.

Preparing for IIT-JEE is a very intense and rigorous process that demands continuous hard work for a minimum of one year with a guided strategy. I started my journey in Kota by following a structured study plan, covering all the important topics, and weekly revisions.

During this journey, mock tests play a huge role. Giving weekly or biweekly mock tests I realized what’s my current level in this competition. The motive of giving mocks is not just the marks but to familiarize ourself with exam pattern, learning time management and identify weak areas which needs improvement. I used to sought help from my mentors and faculty members to get clarified with my doubts and to gain some additional insights into complex topics.

My journey was full of ups and downs but one thing which I realized was every day ,I was emerging with improved version of myself. And this thing helped to not to lose confidence even if I don’t get into it. Just give your best and leave everything.

Finally the most awaited 3 hours knocked the door. It was the January attempt ,I gave my exam well and I secured 90 percentile in that Attempt but this result was not as per my expectations but it was good from my previous one. I decided to once again learn from my mistakes and appear for April attempt with double energy.

Situation got more worse when covid entered into all our lives. The April attempt was delayed as lockdown scenario was started, coaching institutes were all closed. That was a tough time but I continued my preparation. My family was a pillar of encouragement and support. Their belief in my abilities and constant motivation helped me stay focused.

While I may not have secured a seat in IIT or NIIT, my IIT JEE Mains exam experience taught me several valuable lessons-

  • Failure is not the opposite of success it is the part of success which gives you opportunity to grow and learn more.
  • Learn from my mistakes and making us better from our previous day ,it is just like competing with your self.
  • Perseverance and resilience are something which really matters and are crucial in face of challenges.
  • All what we need to do is Explore and innovate

My IIT JEE Mains exam experience in 2019 was a significant chapter in my life which taught me the value of preparation, resilience, and embracing failure as a stepping stone to success. While the road to my destination was arduous, it strengthened my personality and made me more deterministic. I believe that every experience of our live whether its a success or a failure it contributes to our personal as well as professional growth. My tip for the aspiring students is to approach exams with dedication, learn from your failures and don’t compare yourself with others. Remember one thing just reaching to your destination is not success it is also enjoying your journey with a great learning.
