IBM Interview Experience For Associate Systems Engineer | On-Campus 2023

Round 0 – Registration

On 10th August 2023, we were supposed to apply via our Campus Portal as well as the Career Portal Links of IBM.

Round 1 – Online Assessment

On 11 September 2023 @ 10 AM

Number of students – 2000

Exactly, after 1 month i.e. 11 September 2023 we received a campus shortlist of the students who were eligible to write the online assessment.

The online assessment was held on HackerRank (1 Coding question – 45 Minutes), questions were really easy. Students got either of the below-mentioned questions.

• Converting the given string to any of the forms directed with a number associated with it.

For eg.- String a = “geeks for geeks”

int choice = 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

1. Camel Case – geeksForGeeks
2. Snake Case – geeks-for-geeks
3. Pascal Case – geeks_for_geeks
4. Capital Case – GeeksForGeeks

OR

• Ticket Booking system where the login window time was given, user login time was given and current users actively booking tickets were given along with it, the delay caused due to the server was also given. We need to predict whether our user can book the ticket successfully or not.

Round 2 – English Assessment

On 11 September 2023 @ 4 PM

Number of students – 540

This assessment consisted of around 3 to 4 Sections including grammatical error finding, correct spelling, and appropriate words for a given phrase.

Round 3 – Group Discussion

On 11 September 2023 @ 8 PM

Number of students – 480

We were distributed in groups of 10s, every group was mentored by a panel member by IBM. Topics assigned to groups were very generic for example –

• Indian Education Systems
• IOT and Blockchain

The GD went for around 30 minutes.

Round 4 – Interview (Technical + HR)

On 12 September 2023

Number of students – 270

Talking about my interview experience, I was asked –

• About myself
• Projects mentioned on the resume
• One of the challenges that faced in one of the projects, and how I overcame the problem.
• Dictionary vs Set (Python)
• How would you remove empty spaces in a string in Java?
• Why do you want to join IBM?
• What’s so special about IBM?
• Would you mind if we refer you to join as an Automation Engineer?
