How to Install PyGObject in MacOS?

PyGObject is a Python package that can be used to write applications for GNOME. It can also be used to create Python GUI applications using GTK. It supports Linux, Windows, and macOS and requires Python version 3.7 or above. Anaconda, MyPaint, Orca, GNOME Music, etc. use PyGObject. It provides full support to GObject Introspection and its features like a callback, closures, sub-classing, etc. In this article, we will learn how to install PyGObject in Python on macOS.

Installing PyGObject on MacOS

Method: Using pip to install PyGObject Package

Follow the below steps to install the PyGObject package on macOS using pip:

Step 1: Install the latest version of Python3 in MacOS.

Step 2: Check if pip3 and Python3 are correctly installed in your system using the following command.

python3 –version

pip3 –version

Verify-pip3-and-python3

Step 3: Upgrade your pip3 to avoid errors during installation using the following command.

pip3 install –upgrade pip

Upgrade-pip3

Step 4: To install the PyGObject using pip3 use the following command.

pip3 install gobject pygobject

Install-PyGObject

Verifying PyGObject  installation on macOS

To ensure that the PyGObject install properly, we use the following import command in the Python terminal. If there is any error while importing the module then it means it is not installed properly.

import gobject
