A Deferred object in jQuery represents an operation that is still in progress and can be resolved at a later time. Deferred objects are often used in jQuery to handle asynchronous operations, such as making AJAX requests or waiting for a DOM element to become available. In the context of the animate method, the Deferred() method can be used to delay the execution of a function until the animation has been completed. This is useful when you want to ensure that the animation has finished before performing other actions, such as updating the DOM or making an AJAX request.

Syntax:

$.Deferred(function);

Parameter:

  • function: The function parameter is a function that will be executed after the current call stack has cleared. This function can be any valid JavaScript function, and it can take any number of parameters.

Approach 1: Here, we have a div element with an id of “box” that is initially 100 pixels by 100 pixels. When the user clicks the “Animate” button, the animate method is called, causing the div to animate to a width of 200 pixels and a height of 200 pixels over a period of 1000 milliseconds (1 second). After the animation is complete, the Deferred method is called, which delays the execution of the function until the current call stack has cleared. In this case, the function simply logs a message to the console, but you could use the Deferred method to perform any number of actions after the animation has been completed. The Deferred() method is important in relation to the animate method because it allows you to ensure that the animation has finished before performing other actions. This can be especially useful when working with complex animations that involve multiple elements, as it allows you to coordinate the timing of different actions more precisely.

Example: In this example, we will be using the jQuery Deferred() Method to Delay the Execution of a Function until an Animation has been Completed.

Approach 2: In this approach, we have used a button with an id of “fade-in-button” to make a div with an id of “box” visible by fading it in over a period of 1000 milliseconds. When the button is clicked, the fadeIn() method is called on the “box” element, and the defer() method is used to delay the execution of a function that shows an alert message “Box has finished fading in!” until the fadeIn animation on the “box” element has completed. This way you can be sure the animation is finished before executing the next steps.

Example: In this example, we will be implementing the jQuery defer() Method to Delay the Execution of the Alert Until the FadeIn Animation has been Completed.
