By the start of my second year of college, I was sure that I wanted to join a community of like-minded individuals who share my goals of growing in the digital and technological world of engineering. I knew that joining a club would be one of the best ways to achieve this and expand my network in college.

I had done some research beforehand, noting down the clubs I found interesting and relevant to my goals. GeeksforGeeks Student Chapter was one of the ones that got my interest the most. I approached the representatives who were friendly and welcoming, providing insight into their organization’s mission, activities, and the sense of community they fostered.

When the much-awaited recruitment started for the GFGStudentchapter community, I quickly filled up the registration form with enthusiasm and anxiety about my selection into the club. This was something I wanted to try for a while and the aspect of being inexperienced worried me about the selection. Soon I received an email inviting me for an interview and my hopes were reinstated about getting into a community of coding enthusiasts in our college.

The GeeksforGeeks College Club Interview Day was an event that brought together students with shared interests and passions to explore various clubs and organizations on campus. It was an opportunity for students to get involved, make connections, and contribute to the vibrant community. My experience at college club interview day was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating, filled with a mix of anticipation and excitement.

The event took place in two joint classrooms where each club’s different teams had their own designated spaces to set up a booth and attend to the interviewees. The room was abuzz with the chatter of club representatives eager to recruit new members, and the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm.

The interviews themselves were a mix of formal and informal conversations. Some club representatives held structured interviews where they asked about my background, skills, and reasons for wanting to join. In other questions they took a more casual approach, engaging in open conversations about shared interests and goals. Despite seeing my naivete in the domain I was sitting primarily for..i.e. Cybersecurity the interviewers were understanding and helpful by guiding me simultaneously through the interview wherever possible. Things like this about the day left a positive impression on me and made me more eager to be a part of the group that was engaged in making these happenings possible.

One particularly memorable aspect of the day was the passion and energy radiating from the club members. Whether they were talking about community service projects, cultural events, or academic initiatives, their enthusiasm was contagious. It became evident that these clubs were not just about resume-building; they were about fostering friendships, personal growth, and making a difference in the community.

By the end of the day, I found myself torn between several domains and interests, each offering a unique experience. The decision-making process was tough, but the positive interactions and connections I made during club interview day set a foundation for my third-semester college experience.

Ultimately, After a week, with an email and Instagram notification, I found out, that I was chosen by the club members for my selected domain that aligned with my interests and values, and it turned out to be a decision that enriched my college journey and gave me some great past few months of new experiences and connections.
