Google Announces New Features For Meet To Make Workspace More Interesting

Synopsis – The upcoming features in Google Meet will make the application more interesting such as the picture-in-picture mode which will allow the presenter to have a look at their audience while presenting any slide or sheet. 

Recently Google has announced various new features which will be coming up in Google Meet. The company assured that the new updates will bring a large number of highlights and features including several meeting reactions, Google doc integrations, sheets, slides, emoji reactions, and a brand new feature of picture-in-picture mode. 

One of the biggest tech giants declared this big news along with the update that they will be updating client-side encryption, and the same may roll by next month. They also said that this major update is currently under beta and people will be able to use it once the complete updation is done. 

Dave Citron, Google’s Director of Product (Google Meet), said, 

We know we need solutions that help people build connections that can bridge the gap between physical spaces and somewhere else.” 

He also said that the main focus of these updates is upon the ‘collaboration equity’ which means that people will be able to attend and contribute to the meeting despite the device performance, location, language, experience level, and role. Google with the help of this update is trying to break down the barriers and bring together people at every level be it people working remotely or in a physical working space. 

The upcoming features in Google Meet will make the application more interesting such as the picture-in-picture mode which will allow the presenter to have a look at their audience while presenting any slide or sheet. This will help the participants to participate more actively and show everyone’s interest in the meeting. This feature will also allow multitasking as it will also provide the user an ability to take a look at the members present in the meeting while navigating other applications as well. 

Also, for improving the room experience and keeping the environment engaging, the participants are provided with the automatic noise cancellation feature, present on Google Meet Hardware along with Asus, Logitech, and Acer hardware. This feature will be very helpful as for the people using this feature all the background noises will be cut down. Besides this, one of the new features also includes in-meeting reactions. 

In this feature, participants will be able to express themselves with the help of emojis. According to Google, the main motive to add this feature to their application is to bring out positive energy during a meeting. With the help of this unique feature, people can also bring a fun element to their boring meetings. 

Along with the above-mentioned updates, Google Meet will also be integrating Sheets, Slides, and Docs. Although, the same will be available in the coming weeks and will have numerous benefits, including the member can start meeting and bring the people on spreadsheet, document, or presentation. This feature will also save time and will allow real-time conversation. 

Currently, this version is available on iOS (version 12) along with (version M), but you can only use this if you have updated to the latest version of the Gmail application.
