Google’s New Android Features

Google is changing how you search for things that show up on your phone’s screen across the web. Before this, Google Lens allowed users to search using images instead of simply keywords by incorporating a multimedia component into the search experience around texts. The corporation recently merged the two to provide customers with a more streamlined search process that eliminates the need to repeat themselves online. Google is working on an improved multi-search feature for 2024.

For future reference, users may now add the follow-up text inquiry at the same time as they click an image of an object in the Google app to look it up online. Say you capture a photo of a ball and insert it into the search bar; you can then comment on it with questions like “What sport is it involved in?” or “Which material is it made from?” This new, improved multi-search feature, according to Google, makes it easier to ask “more complex or detailed questions.”

In addition, users will notice a top-level AI-generated overview upon initiating the search; this is effectively an AI-summarized version of the content found on the websites linked to search results. U.S. users can find this feature in the Google app (iOS and Android) starting this week. In contrast, users outside the U.S. can get it by signing up for the Search Generative Experience (SGE) program.

A.I. meets Google search

The “Circle to Search” search function, which takes its information from scribbles, goes up next. You won’t have to take screenshots and then open a separate app to search anymore because of this feature. You may quickly find what you’re looking for by simply circling, tapping, or highlighting an object on the screen.

A simple long-press on the bottom navigation bar or the home button will bring up relevant results from Google Search. Just tap, highlight, or draw a circle to make your pick. In addition to the multi-search feature mentioned earlier, Circle to Search is compatible with a plethora of applications, including YouTube, social networking, messaging, and many more.

Beginning on January 31, Circle to Search will be available exclusively on the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 series of phones. Because these phones are using Google’s cloud and generative A.I. capabilities, they will initially only be available on these devices. The Galaxy S24 can run the Gemini Nano language model on-device, identical to the Pixel 8 Pro. It speeds up AI-powered tasks and keeps personal info on the phone.

Conclusion

Along with the option to make personalized emojis from images stored in the local gallery, Google is also making on-device Magic Compose available to Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series phones as part of the agreement. To further aid drivers in maintaining attention on the road, Android Auto will shortly create texts and provide shortcuts.
