GATE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The GATE 2025 eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Educational qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts from a recognized university or institute.
  • Year of study: Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or who have already graduated in any government approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.
  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian nationals or nationals of other countries with valid Indian visas.

There is no minimum percentage criteria for appearing in the GATE 2025 exam.

Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India must ensure that those examinations are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/ UPSC as being equivalent to B.E./ B. Tech./ B. Arch./ B. Planning, etc.

Candidates who are appearing for the final year of their qualifying degree in 2024 can also apply for GATE 2025. However, they must provide their final year marksheet (of any one semester) at the time of admission.

GATE 2025 Conducting Committee’s

The GATE Exam is organized by a committee consisting of nine institutes, including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and IISc Bangalore. GATE 2025 Age Limit

The GATE exam is intended for those aspiring to pursue master’s courses in technical fields. The organizing authority does not impose any upper age limit for candidates. In other words, there are no specific age criteria to meet when appearing for the GATE 2025 Examination.

GATE 2025 Nationality

Eligible candidates for GATE should be citizens of India. Moreover, candidates from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are also permitted to apply for the exam.

GATE 2025 Pass Percentage

There is no specific minimum marks or percentage required to be eligible for the GATE 2025 Exam. However, some IITs might have their own pass percentage criteria for candidates who qualify for the paper.

GATE 2025 Exam Centres

The list of GATE exam centers 2025 has been tentatively released along with the official brochure. In the previous year, the GATE exam took place at 176 different exam centers. Candidates can choose their preferred exam centers for GATE 2025. However, the allocation of test centers will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis by the exam authorities.

The marking scheme for certain GATE papers (AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, and XL) differs from others. Here, General Aptitude contributes 15 marks, and the remaining 85 marks are allocated to subjective questions, summing up to a total of 100 marks.

Regarding incorrect answers, one-mark questions have a deduction of 0.33 marks, while two-mark questions result in a deduction of 0.66 marks. However, no marks are subtracted for incorrect responses in NAT questions.
