FIS recently visited our campus to hire candidates for the IT Trainee role for the graduating batch of 2024. They gave a presentation about the company and explained the job responsibilities. To be eligible, students had to be in the Computer Science (CS) or Information Technology (IT) fields, have at least 60% in both 10th and 12th grades, and have a CGPA of 6.5 or higher with no active backlogs.

Round 1:[Online Assessment]

An online assessment was held in our college labs, comprising aptitude questions and two coding questions—one of medium difficulty and the other of easy difficulty.

Round 2:[Technical Round 1]

  • Out of a pool of 152 candidates, 17 were selected for the first Technical Round after an online assessment. The subsequent phase involved an offline interview conducted on the same day at our campus.
The interview started with my introduction.
  • Can you explain the fundamental concepts of Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs)?
  • Write an SQL query to determine the third-largest salary from an employee table.
  • What is OS? Why it is needed?
  • The interviewer asked me about my Previous internship.
  • What is a Join and what types of join?
  • What is Normalization?

Round 3:[HR Round]

From an initial group of 17 students, 11 progressed to the HR round. The interview comprised the following questions:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why FIS?
  • Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
  • Asked 2 Simple Puzzles?
  • Do you have any specific location preferences for your work?

Out of the 11 candidates, four were selected, and despite holding seven offers, the remaining candidates, including myself, were informed that if there was a future requirement, the company will reach out.

Round 4:[Technical Round 2]

After 15 days, the HR department reached out to us, and they scheduled our technical interview.

  • Can you please introduce yourself?
  • What is multithreading?
  • How do we achieve multithreading in an operating system?
  • Why choose React JS over other frameworks?
  • What is a class component in react?
  • Explain what states and hooks are in React.
  • Can you provide a real example of using React hooks?
  • What are JDBC and ODBC?
  • Define data abstraction and explain how we can achieve it.
