Finquest Interview Experience for Data Engineer

Finquest, founded in 2016, has been shaking the potential of private markets by reinventing deal sourcing through the power of data, AI, and people.

This article describes my interview experience for the role of Data Engineer at Finquest in May, 2022.

The application was submitted through Indeed. After 2-3 weeks, I received a call from the recruiter about progressing on my application.

Stage 1 – The first round was an assignment on Python. The submission deadline was within 2 days and the problem was dealing with a real-life data challenge. For the given datasets of no two matching records, the task was to provide merged data. I used Python with OpenCV, Keras, and pandas and came out with an efficient solution for it. After a week from the date of its submission, I was invited for the next round of interviews.

Stage 2 – This was a technical round where the interviewer was most interested in the approach. He provided me with some edge cases on my solution and we had a brief discussion on the further cases. I was a bit confident in my approach and these had helped me to tackle the cases and provide with the solution. The interviewer seemed interested in my profile and then started some basics on data part including some questions on MySQL, Python, Machine Learning, and AI.

Stage 3 – The second round of interviews was held on the same day and this was a technical round with the head of the department. It seemed that he was already having some idea on the solution and we started the further discussion. He asked to implement a totally different approach. It took a bit but I was able to give a detailed solution based on Machine Learning where I used the dataset to train my model giving an accuracy of about 90% on the output.

Stage 4 – The final round was a HR discussion where we discussed the company profile, the roles and responsibilities, and the negotiation on the offer. The offer letter was released the same day and the best thing being the whole process took just a week or two.
