Amid the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Elon Musk comes to the rescue by starting Starlink satellite broadband service.

After the plea from Ukraine’s deputy Prime Miniter for supplying satellite-based communication services in Ukraine after Russia’s invasion of the country, Elon Musk took this decision. His company SpaceX’s started the services in Ukraine and once the service started Elon Musk tweeted

“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” Musk tweeted, adding “more terminals en route.”

Elon Musk tweeted the same after he was urged by Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation for providing Starlink services to Ukraine as all the communication sources came down after the country was invaded by Russia. While asking for the services, Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted,

“While you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations.”

Apart from that, Fedorov also called on Elon Musk and asked, “to address sane Russians to stand” against the invasion done by their country. Starlink is Elon Musk’s company under which there is a complete constellation of 2000 satellites aiming to provide internet connection all over the world. The company was first launched in May 2019 its 60 satellite constellation into a 550 km orbit. It was expected to launch six more constellations by 2019 consisting of 720 satellites in total.

Elon Musk along with his company SpaceX also plans to launch a huge number of satellites into orbit, thus, creating a network of constellations based on the server vulnerabilities. Apart from this, Musk has already donated 50 satellite terminals for restoring the connection in Tonga, where the connections were disrupted due to Tsunami.

Although this is a costly alternative for the basic internet services which are provided to us but have better connectivity. Starlink’s servers can reach up to hard-to-serve places where it is impossible for the optic cable fiber to find its place. Also, it has been proven that at the time of critical backstop Starlink has come to the rescue, and the live example is Russia- Ukraine conflict.

Since the launch of military operations from Russia, in Ukraine, all the communication and internet services have been disrupted within the country. People are finding it hard to connect with their families and lost touch with everyone. Due to this ongoing war between the countries Russia and Ukraine, the latter is facing many hardships. The citizens are leaving their houses and moving to shelters in order to stay safe during these hard times.
