‘Self-Driving Cars May Increase Traffic’ Says Tesla CEO Elon Musk

We all know Elon Musk and his vision of self-driven vehicles but now the CEO is a bit tense about the traffic jams that the self-driven cars are gonna make. Musk is very active on social media, especially Twitter and recently he tweeted regarding the increase in traffic jams due to self-driving cars. Although, Tesla is the company, which is constantly working upon creating the best driver-less cars. But it may create congested traffic as there will be no physical strain on the drivers thus creating more hassle while driving.

While launching the cars, Elon Musk on being asked about this issue said it to be “the ultimate boss battle,” as challenging traffic is the biggest issue. But now as per his tweet, it is clear that one of the richest men in the world is not able to conquer traffic and is worried about it. As per the reports Tesla CEO said, “Because you won’t experience the discomfort of driving yourself, self-driving cars will magnify traffic to absurd levels.”

However, the main objective of launching self-driven vehicles is to allow the individuals unable to drive to have their own vehicle and gain confidence and mobility. Hence, leading the number of automobiles present on road creating long traffic jams as everyone will on the road with their cars. 

Although, one of the most irritating jams that are “phantom traffic jams” might be seen less. The haphazard traffic on the road is the biggest issue faced by the drivers on the roads. Apart from that bad drivers and issues created by them will get minimized. In line with this, there will be less breaking of rules too and yes it is a good thing.

The biggest Phantom Traffic creators are the people who do not break on time or break abruptly creating chaos on roads. Thus, self-driven cars will lead the other cars easily without breaking the traffic rules. Besides this, late-breaking is quite hazardous and can lead to accidents, hence it is very important to be attentive while driving as you cannot afford any mistake.

Furthermore, self-driven technology is overtaking the world, every leading automobile company is working on the same technology. Big companies like Tesla, Mercedes, and Volvo are among the front runners and are working on making smooth vehicles without any glitches. In one of the interviews, Elon Musk also said,

“I think we have all the pieces, and it’s just about refining those pieces, putting them in place, and making sure they work across a huge number of environments – and then we’re done.”
