Eligibility Criteria:

To participate in the counseling process for various courses at NIT Jalandhar, candidates must meet the required cutoff in the JEE Mains exam. The minimum cutoff varies annually and is determined based on factors such as the course and the candidate’s category.

Entrance Examination:

The common entrance exam for admission to NIT Jalandhar and other NITs is the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains. Registration for this exam typically commences in December, and it is conducted twice, in January and April.

Admission and Counselling Process:

Once the candidate achieves the minimum required score in the JEE exam, seat allocation is carried out through a joint counseling process involving all NITs and IITs, managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA). The counseling process comprises six rounds, and candidates are allotted seats based on their rank falling within the cutoff criteria.

Document Verification:

Following this, the candidate’s fees (Counselling fees and partial institute fees) and documents are scrutinized. After successful completion of the counseling and fee payment, the candidate’s documents are physically verified at the respective institute to confirm their seat in the chosen course.

Final Step:

Afterward, candidates are required to pay the remaining fees of the semester directly at the institute. Upon successful payment, they receive an admission letter, confirming their seat in the institute and the chosen course.
