AFCAT Syllabus 2024 and Exam Pattern: The AFCAT exam stands for the Air Force Common Admission Test. It is a competitive exam conducted by the Indian Air Force(IAF). AFCAT Exam Pattern 2024

There are four stages to get selected in the AFCAT exam. These stages are as follows:

Stage -1 : Written Test

Stage-2 : Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview

This stage is completed in two sub-stages:

1. Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and Discussion test.

2. Psychological testing, Group Testing, and Interviews over the next four to five days.

Stage-3 : Medical Examination

A range of medical and physical tests are done to ensure the fitness level of the candidates for the military service.

Stage-4 : Final Merit List

The final list of selected candidates is released based on the combined results of written exam, AFSB, and the medical tests.

This exam is conducted twice a year in online mode. The duration of the exam is 2 hours (120 minutes). A candidate needs to attempt the 100 questions in total in two hours. The language medium of the exam is English only. The written exam is of 300 marks consisting of Objective Type Questions (MCQs).

AFCAT 2024 Negative Marking Scheme

One correct answer is awarded with 3 marks whereas 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. To balance the marking scheme of all shifts, normalization is also applied before the declaration of the result.

The AFCAT selection process for the 2024 year has been notified. To get the final selection candidates must score marks to clear the merit base don 3 states of the selection process.

The selection process for AFCAT 2024 included three stages as following :

AFCAT 2024- Written Exam

The written exam is held online. The question paper includes 100 objective-type questions carrying 3 marks each. The total of maximum marks is 300. The written test is held on the basis of four subjects which are General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. In the written test there is a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.

AFCAT- AFSB Testing

The AFSB Testing is done in 3 stages.

  1. In stage 1 the Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with the Picture Perception and Discussion test, will be conducted on the first day.
  2. Stage II includes a psychological test that will be conducted on Day 1(Evening), and the Group Tests and Interviews will commence after the document check for the next five days.
  3. For the Flying Branch: A Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only.

AFCAT- Final Merit List

The final merit list is released based on the marks scored by the candidates in the written exam and the AFSB test. The names of selected candidates are included in the final merit list. The merit list will be availabe on the official website i.e. https://afcat.cdac.in/.
