Synopsis: It hasn’t been revealed when exactly the feature will be available to the users, however as per reports it is expected to be rolled out in the upcoming weeks. The move seems welcoming for those who like to watch content on a bigger screen.

In a bid to become more user friendly, YouTube Shorts, which can be termed as the competitors of short video sharing app TikTok and Reels on photo and video sharing app Instagram will be accessible to the users on PC as well as tablets. This is an update on the platform as earlier only smartphone users could access the Shorts feature on YouTube.

It hasn’t been revealed when exactly the feature will be available to the users, however as per reports it is expected to be rolled out in the upcoming weeks. The move seems welcoming for those who like to watch content on a bigger screen. Alongside, the placement of the feature on PC and tablets hasn’t been revealed yet as the interface there is different from smartphones.

Alongside, YouTube has added another feature that is going to make it for creators to pick a clip from a video and remix it. Under this feature creators will be able to take clips from longer videos using the ‘Cut’ feature, in order to allow them to attach and mix them with other videos.

Meanwhile, if a user doesn’t want their videos to be added with others, they are provided with an option to opt out of the feature in order to avoid it. These features are an addition to the already existing ones that the video streaming platform provides its users.

YouTube introduced YouTube Shorts in September 2020 in India and later on, it rolled out the service to other countries including the United States (US). Coincidentally, it was launched while the short video-making Chinese platform TikTok was banned in India. YouTube Shorts allows users to create videos with a time span ranging from 15 seconds to 60 seconds.

The company has made sure that the original creators get credit while the clip will be edited to a new video. So, to ensure that the original creator doesn’t go credit less, YouTube will automatically link the remixed clip with the original one, helping the former creator gets the credit. This will eventually lead to an increase in the audience of the original creator.
