Reboot is the process of restarting a computer, mobile phone, etc. It resolves many issues in our computers such as the freezing issue, our computer works slower, and rebooting it resolves these types of issues. Hard reboot and Soft reboot are the types of reboot. In this article, we will cover the use of reboot and its causes. Also will cover how to reboot a PC and tell the differences between a hard reboot and a soft reboot.

What is Reboot?

A reboot is the process of restarting a computer. It resolves many issues in the computer such as some apps not working if our computer freezes due to driver issues. When we reboot it, the computer works faster or resolves the issues. On the computer, when we click the power button it starts rebooting. The other technique of rebooting the computer is Ctrl+Alt+Delete. For example, A person sends an email to the client but his computer will freeze which means nothing function works. So, they decided to reboot the computer. he holds the power button for 5 seconds after 5 seconds when turning it on his computer works faster and sends the email to the client successfully. Reboot consists of a Hard Reboot and a Soft reboot. A hard reboot is a reboot when we hold the power button to turn off the system for 5 seconds after 5 seconds we turn on the computer. A soft reboot is a reboot in which the computer restarts without the interruption of power. We choose the restart button to restart the computer.

Causes of Reboot

  • Connectivity Issues: We all know that internet/network connection depends upon a stable connection. A rebooting reboots the computer to refresh the network setting so that our network connection works well.
  • Drivers failure: Drivers may freeze the computer so rebooting helps to secure the system or resolve the issue. for example- someone sends an email to the client but when she clicks the send button her button does not work or we can say her System freezes because of driver issues. So, when she reboots our system her system works well.
  • RAM issues: RAM provides temporary storage for running the application and program. Sometimes, it saves unnecessary data while rebooting it clear the unnecessary RAM cache so that our computer works at full capacity.
  • Increase Performance: If our computer works slowly, while rebooting it helps our computer to run efficiently or increase the performance of the computer.
  • Updates Issues: If there any pending updates in our computer that makes our computer slower while rebooting it will complete the pending updates and makes our computer faster.
  • System freezing: If our computer freezes nothing function works. While rebooting, it will recover the computer.

How to Reboot a Computer?

There are the methods that explained how to reboot the computer.

  • First, we physically hold the power button to hold the computer for 5-10 seconds. After 5-10 seconds turn back to restart the computer.
  • We can press the windows key and click on power. After clicking, we can see three options- sleep, shutdown and restart. We select restart button that restart our computer.
