West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state level entrance examination conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). This exam serves as a gateway to various undergraduate programs in Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture offered by reputed colleges and universities across West Bengal. The journey through the WBJEE was nothing less than a roller coaster ride for me, marked by resilience, determination and growth.

My story begins against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time of uncertainty and disruption. Despite being an average student, I decided to take up the challenge of WBJEE 2020 after a less than ideal performance in JEE Mains. I knew my preparation wasn’t up to par, but I went for it anyway. After months of anticipation, the results were finally in August 2020 and the disappointment was palpable. With a General Merit Rank (GMR) of 25,000, I realized that the road ahead was tough.

Determined to improve myself, I embarked on a new journey. I revamped my study routine, joined coaching institutes and took mock tests to gauge my progress. Despite the setbacks, after thorough preparation, I decided to give it another shot in 2021. This time my efforts paid off and my GMR improved significantly to 2736. The excitement of the progress was accompanied by the realization that the journey had just begun.

My journey to acceptance took me through many twists and turns. After the counseling rounds, I was allotted JGEC IT in the first round and later secured a seat in Calcutta University in IT. This process, while challenging, underscored the importance of persistence and resilience in the face of uncertainty.

The WBJEE exam, which carries 200 marks, tests three subjects – Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The challenge consists of answering 75 questions from mathematics and a combined paper from physics and chemistry in a time frame of two hours. The format of the exam mirrors the JEE Main with a mixture of multiple choice questions. It is essential to manage time effectively and remain calm under pressure.

My WBJEE journey has taught me the importance of persistence, adaptability and resilience. The challenges caused by the pandemic and my initial failures could not deter me from striving for excellence. I’ve learned that growth often comes from difficult situations, and with determination, success can be achieved even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

In conclusion, my WBJEE exam experience is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome challenges. This journey, while challenging, has helped me develop important life skills that go beyond academia. Looking back, I realize that every obstacle was a stepping stone to growth and success, and I hope my story serves as an inspiration to others facing similar journeys.
