Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) Pune Admission Experience

I always wanted the best college for my engineering and here I’m in VIT, Pune. Vishwakarma Institute of Technology located in Bibwewadi, Pune, Maharashtra is an autonomous institute for Engineering which is run by Bansilal Agarwal Charitable Trust (BRACT).

I got admitted to VIT in the Information Technology branch. My admission was through lateral entry which is direct admission to the second year after pursuing my diploma in Computer Technology at Government Polytechnic Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Here point to be noted is that we can get lateral entry as well in VIT Pune. As of now, there is no compulsion on selecting your branch for engineering same as that of your diploma course branch. For example, if you have completed your diploma in Mechanical Engineering, still you can take admitted to CS, IT, or any branch in VIT for your engineering.

To take admission to VIT, Pune there are two ways:

1. After your 10+2: Any candidate who had completed his 10+2 (HSC) can take admission to VIT on the basis of his MHT-CET (Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test) or JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination) Score.
2. Lateral Entry (Direct Second Year Admission): Candidates who had passed a diploma or equivalent course can take lateral entry to the college. For these merit is based on your diploma percentage.

My personal reasons to choose this college for Engineering:

1. Research-based and Practical oriented syllabus: In VIT, Pune we have a complete syllabus research-based and focused on building the projects which help to gain very good practical knowledge. In college, you are expected to do innovative projects for each subject and one major project for each semester. Based on your major project you are also made compulsory to publish a research paper or patent your project, which carries grades as well. Due to these, being in the third year I have 2 research papers published.
2. Knowledgeable Faculty: The teaching faculty here at VIT is very knowledgeable and support the student in academics as well as extra-curricular activities.
3. Good Placements: The companies start visiting your campus atn the early starting of 3rd year for the internships. Many companies also provide PPO (Pre Placement Offer) after completion of your internships.
4. Updated Curriculum: The curriculum in VIT, Pune is designed with the help of industry experts which makes it completely industry-proof and practical-oriented. Being an autonomous institute, you can see useful modifications in the curriculum to make it more industry ready.
5. Amazing College Fests: As VIT is famous for its college fests, we have multiple annual fests like Melange, Vishwakarandak, and Vishwotsav. Here students enjoy, compete, and celebrate.
