About Central Armed Police Force (CAPF)

The Central Armed Police Forces is the collective name for the central police organizations in India under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs. These are technically paramilitary forces formerly known as “Central Para-Military Forces (CPMF)”. The CAPF consists of seven forces including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which assists in internal security and law and order.

• The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), comprising the CAPFs, is tasked with protecting critical establishments (such as airports, metros, etc.) and public sector undertakings.

UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates applying for the UPSC CAPF exam must ensure that they meet the required UPSC CAPF eligibility criteria for the recruitment process in 2024. Applicants who do not satisfy the UPSC CAPF eligibility criteria will be disqualified at any stage of recruitment. 1. If a candidate belongs to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe then relaxation up to a maximum of five years will be given.
2. Up to a maximum of three years in the case of Other Backward Class candidates who are eligible to avail the benefits of reservation applicable to such candidates.
3. Up to a maximum of five years for civilian Central Government employees as per the extant instructions of the Central Government. Ex-servicemen will also be eligible for this relaxation. However, the total exemption claimed on account of government service will be limited to five years.

UPSC CAPF Eligibility Criteria 2024 : Minimum Educational Qualifications

A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.

Note: Candidates with NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificates will be given preference during the interview or personality test. These qualifications will be considered at the time of the Interview/Personality Test only.

• No person who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the consent of the Central Government signified in writing be appointed or employed under these Rules.

The UPSC CAPF Recruitment 2024 selection will be based on a three-stage UPSC CAPF Selection Process. Following are the various stages of the UPSC CAPF AC Selection Process 2024:

UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 : Written Test

The written examination to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission will be held on 04 August 2024 and will comprise two papers. Paper I will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.00 Noon and Paper II will be held from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 : Physical Efficiency Test

UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 : Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test will have to undergo a medical test, and candidates will have to clear the medical round to reach the personal interview round, which is the final stage of recruitment.

• There will be a negative marking of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer in the first paper.

General Studies, Essay and Comprehension
Part A	Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English totaling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history, especially of the 12 freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability.
Part B	Comprehension, précis writing, and other communications/language skills – to be attempted in English only (Marks 120) – The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammar, and other aspects of language testing.
