Teachnook Interview Experience as Academic Counsellor

This is my personal experience for a kick startup i.e. beginning the new chapter. This was my first Interview Experience as a fresher. The company was Teachnook (EdTech StartUp) and the job role was an Academic Counsellor.

About The Company:-

Teachnook is an EdTech firm that is redefining e-learning experiences with an AI-based model. They have worked very closely with the student community to ensure the development of a system and environment that would help close the knowledge gap that students tend to struggle with. Our mission is to ensure that no student is left behind and gets an equal opportunity to realize their true potential. They have designed a knowledge platform that is accessible to all from anywhere in the world.

1. Can you describe your initial thoughts and feelings as you prepared for the interview with Teachnook?
2. What specific research did you do about Teachnook and the role of an academic counselor before the interview?
3. What were your first impressions when you arrived at the interview location?
4. Can you recall any particular questions that stood out to you during the interview process?
5. What feedback or insights did you gain from the interview experience that you could apply to future interviews or career endeavors?

• I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time while I was getting ready for the Teachnook interview. I recall being excited because I thought this might be the beginning of a really exciting new phase in my career. My excitement grew as I learned more about Teachnook and the work of an academic counsellor since I was so in line with their vision of using technology to enhance education. But as I entered the world of professional interviews for the first time, there was also a tinge of nervousness, a dread of the unknown. But instead of letting that nervous energy get in the way of my preparation, I used it to make sure I was ready to demonstrate my abilities and enthusiasm for learning during the interview. All things considered, I was quite excited about the possibility of interviewing with Teachnook and simultaneously nervous and determined to leave a lasting impression.
• Before the interview with Teachnook for the role of an academic counselor, I conducted comprehensive research to gain a thorough understanding of the company and the position. Specifically, my research included:
  • Examining Teachnook’s Website: To learn more about the company’s goals, core principles, offerings, and intended clientele, I started by going to Teachnook’s official website. This gave me insight into Teachnook’s overall objectives and their plan to use technology to transform education.
  • Reading the History and Founders of Teachnook: I read through press releases, blog entries, and articles to find out about Teachnook’s history, including its foundation narrative, significant turning points, and any new advancements or successes. Knowing the company’s history helped to put its operations and future plans into perspective.
  • Examining Teachnook’s Organisational Culture and Values: I tried to find out more about Teachnook’s values and how it approaches diversity, inclusion, teamwork, and innovation. Comprehending Teachnook’s principles allowed me to harmonise my personal principles and experiences with those of the organisation.
  • Examining Teachnook’s Online Presence: To gather viewpoints from clients, industry experts, and current and former staff, I looked through Teachnook’s blog entries, social media accounts, and online reviews. This gave important information about Teachnook’s standing, involvement in the community, and public opinion.
  • Investigating Academic Counsellor Role: I looked for information regarding the duties, abilities, and credentials that are normally needed for the position of academic counsellor. This included realizing the counselor’s function in mentoring students, helping them with their schoolwork, and encouraging their personal and professional development.
• My initial thoughts upon reaching the Teachnook interview site were overwhelmingly favourable. The atmosphere reflected the innovative and professional nature of the EdTech startup. The actual office was bright and welcoming, with collaborative work areas that encouraged creativity and teamwork as well as colorful decor. The receptionist made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in, which instantly helped to allay any anxiety I could have had. The atmosphere was busy but orderly, with everyone working and conversing with purpose. The staff’s obvious energy and commitment was one thing that really caught my attention. It was evident from the conversations I watched that everyone was fervently dedicated to Teachnook’s goal of using technology to transform education. My desire to join the team was further stoked by the evident and motivating sense of unity. Furthermore, from the planning and scheduling to the actual interview room setup, every facet of the interview process demonstrated professionalism and meticulous attention to detail. Teachnook clearly valued the applicant experience and went above and above to make sure that the encounter was smooth and enjoyable.
• Firstly, I was asked for a brief introduction, my past experiences as a job seeker, my strengths and weaknesses, etc. but one query that struck a chord with me in particular was:

“How do you approach building rapport and establishing trust with students in an online learning environment?”

Because it covered a significant area of the work of the academic counsellor in the context of Teachnook’s online learning platform, this question stood out. It made me think critically about my interpersonal and communication abilities as well as my comprehension of the special opportunities and challenges that come with online learning. In my response, I stressed the value of individualised support, empathy, and attentive listening in creating deep connections with pupils. Among the tactics I covered were doing virtual orientation meetings, setting up frequent check-ins, and making use of different communication platforms to successfully promote open communication and attend to individual requirements.

All things considered, I found this question particularly noteworthy since it emphasized Teachnook’s dedication to offering students comprehensive support and it forced me to explain how I would help to foster a healthy learning environment in a virtual setting.

• I gained insightful and useful comments from my Teachnook interview experience that I may use in my future professional endeavours and interviews. First of all, I discovered how crucial careful planning and study are. My ability to properly customize my comments and demonstrate my agreement with Teachnook’s objective was facilitated by my understanding of the organization’s values, aims, and the role of an academic counsellor. Second, I understood how important it was to highlight not just my credentials and experience but also my love and excitement for the position. The interviewers were impressed by my ability to express my sincere interest in counselling and education, which also highlighted my dedication to having a significant effect in the field. Furthermore, the process of conducting interviews emphasized the significance of resilience and adaptation. During the interview, I had to think quickly and give confident answers to questions that came up unexpectedly. This experience made it clear how crucial it is to maintain composure under pressure and adopt an adaptable attitude while dealing with unforeseen events.

Finally, I realized how important it is to get feedback and pose meaningful questions. Having a meaningful conversation with the interviewers not only showed that I was interested in the position, but it also gave me important information about Teachnook’s expectations and culture. In addition, asking for comments after the interview let me assess how I did and pinpoint areas for development, which improved my interview preparation going forward. All things considered, my interview experience at Teachnook gave me valuable insights, methods, and perspectives that I can use to my future professional pursuits. I will be able to approach interviews with professionalism, assurance, and a growth-oriented mindset going forward.
