TCS Digital Interview Experience (NQT)

Though I didn’t clear the interview for TCS Digital, it was a good experience.

The registration process started from June 2019 itself.

Written Test-1:
The first phase is TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT) conducted on 3rd August 2019. It had four sections English, Aptitude, Programming Logic and Coding.

There was negative marking. There were 15 questions in English, 15 in Aptitude, 10 in Programming Logic and in coding there was only one question but the platform was flexible. We could use C, C++, Java, Python and Perl. In Programming Logic the questions were from C, C++, Java and Data structures. The questions were not very difficult. It didn’t require much effort. The coding question was also easy.

After a week, on 10th August, we got a mail saying that we have cleared NQT. Later on that day some of us got another mail for the second round of written test TCS National Qualifier Test-2 and this test was for the digital profile. It was scheduled on 11th August.

Written Test-2:
The pattern was same as NQT but the level of questions was high. The test contained advanced level questions and the questions were lengthy.

On 15th August all of the students who have cleared NQT got a mail about the interview process which was scheduled on 22nd August. Then on 19th August the results of NQT-2 were declared. Out of 25 from our college, 3 people cleared the test and they were eligible to appear for the interview of Digital profile. I was one of them. The interview was on the same day and the same panel tested the candidates for both digital and ninja profiles.

Interview:
The interview was scheduled at 12 PM. We reached the venue and we had two rounds of interview.
Round-1: Technical Round
Round-2: HR Round

Technical:
After looking at my CV, they started asking about the project I’ve done, what was my role in it and why did we select Swing framework. I answered them. Then they asked me to explain about the publication I’ve mentioned. I explained it properly as I’ve worked on it for several months. Then they asked me questions from Java(method overloading, user exception handling, predefined methods etc), SQL(difference between union & union all), PL-SQL (procedures, functions, triggers etc), Data Structures(Manipulation in a doubly linked list) and some basic questions like the difference between class and structure. I answered 90% of the questions. Then they asked me about the trending fields like Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud Computing. It was the real struggle I faced. I answered a few questions but they were not satisfied.

HR:
The interviewer asked some questions like why should I hire you, how will you manage your time. He also explained some tough situations and asked me how I would respond in that situation. At last he asked me whether I had any questions for him. That’s the end.

on 17th September all of us got the offer letter of TCS Ninja. None of the 3 got selected for digital profile.
