1.Preparation Phase:

Exam Name: SSC GD (Staff Selection Commission General Duty)

Books Read:

During my preparation for the SSC GD exam, I relied on a variety of study materials to cover the diverse range of topics included in the syllabus. For mathematics, I referred to books like R.S. Aggarwal’s “Quantitative Aptitude” and “Fast Track Objective Arithmetic” by Rajesh Verma. For reasoning, I found “A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning” by R.S. Aggarwal to be immensely helpful. To stay updated with current affairs and general awareness, I regularly read newspapers like “The Hindu” and “Indian Express” and followed online resources such as websites and mobile apps providing daily news updates and quizzes. Additionally, I solved previous years’ question papers and practiced mock tests available on various online platforms to familiarize myself with the exam pattern and improve my speed and accuracy.

Study Strategy:

My study routine was structured and disciplined, with a focus on covering all the topics comprehensively while also practicing regularly to reinforce my understanding and improve my problem-solving skills. I dedicated around 6-8 hours each day to my preparation, dividing my time among different subjects based on their weightage in the exam and my proficiency level. I didn’t attend any coaching classes but relied on self-study supplemented by online resources and guidance from mentors whenever needed. To manage my time effectively, I created a study schedule and set achievable daily, weekly, and monthly goals, tracking my progress and adjusting my plan accordingly.

Types of Questions:

During my preparation, I encountered a wide range of questions across various subjects. In mathematics, I solved problems related to arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. For reasoning, I practiced solving puzzles, coding-decoding, syllogism, and logical reasoning questions. In general awareness, I covered topics such as current affairs, history, geography, polity, economics, and basic science concepts. I made sure to revise important concepts regularly and solve ample practice questions to strengthen my grasp on each subject.

Practice Sessions:

I engaged in regular practice sessions to reinforce my learning and improve my performance in the SSC GD exam. I solved numerous mock tests and previous years’ question papers to familiarize myself with the exam pattern and enhance my time management skills. I also participated in online study groups and discussions to exchange knowledge, clarify doubts, and stay motivated throughout my preparation journey. Additionally, I made it a point to revise concepts regularly and track my progress to identify areas for improvement and focus my efforts accordingly.
