In this article, I will be sharing my SSC CHSL Exam Experience. So, after my graduation was over last year in July 2023, I decided to take government exams. So, I was going through different websites on Chrome and got to know that SSC CHSL is one of the exams that I can take just after my graduation. There are many other government exams that you can take after your graduation. So, I filled out the form and started preparing for it. I just had one month to prepare for it and this was my first attempt.

First I checked the syllabus of this exam, the sections covered in this exam, the marking scheme, etc. After seeing a few previous year’s papers, I got the idea that anyone can crack this exam if their basics are strong. The level of the questions asked in this exam is not that tough as its eligibility criteria is 10+2. Different sections which are there in this exam are English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. There are a total of 100 questions of 2 marks each and 0.5 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The time duration is 1 hour (60 minutes). So, with one month left in my hand, I couldn’t prepare that well for the exam but I decided that I should give mock tests and also attempt the previous year’s papers with a timer so that I get the feeling that I am giving the real exam.

Mock tests are a great way of testing yourself. I had taken the Testbook subscription in which I got enough number of mock tests of the SSC CHSL exam and some previous year papers were also available. Day and night, I was giving mock tests and mock tests so that I could achieve a reasonable rank. When the mock test scores were released, I concluded that achieving good marks in English and General Intelligence was not that tough. Your main focus should be on Mathematics. Achieving good marks in Mathematics is not an easy task. Your basics must be very clear if you want good marks in Mathematics. Also, the General Awareness section plays a major role in getting a good rank as this section’s question can come from anywhere. Staff Selection Commission can ask questions of GK from anywhere, be it Politics or History or Geography or Economics or Current Affairs, etc. You need to cover at least the previous year’s current affairs i.e. if you are appearing in 2024, you need to cover 2023 current affairs as well and also 2024 current affairs till the date on which you are appearing for the exam.

So, it was August 2023 when I had to appear for the SSC CHSL Exam. I took the exam and managed to solve 58 questions (as far as I remember). So, overall I can say that if your basics are strong and your question-solving speed is very fast, then you can easily crack this exam.

Thank You!
