Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore (SRIB) Interview Experience (On-Campus) 2021

Introduction:

During my 6th semester, a golden opportunity knocked as Samsung arrived on our campus, offering a 2-month internship for SDE roles. The journey from eligibility to securing a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) was marked by meticulous preparation and an engaging interview process.

Eligibility:

• Branches: CS, IT, ECE, and EE
• CGPA: a CGPA of at least 7 and no active backlogs

Round 1: Online Coding Test:

The first round was an online coding test that challenged us with three coding questions within a 70-minute window. To give you an idea, the questions resembled the ones found at:

3. Finding nodes in a tree where the sum of all nodes in the left subtree is greater than or equal to k.

Success in solving all three questions was the ticket to the next rounds. My prior preparation proved advantageous, allowing me to tackle these questions effectively. The outcome was the qualification of 29 students, including myself, for the next stage.

Round 2: Technical Interview:

After a week of focused preparation, the technical interview was conducted on Google Meet. The interviewer set the tone with a warm welcome and a self-introduction, omitting the need for an immediate introduction from my side. Technical inquiries followed suit:

1. I was asked about my favorite data structure.
2. Operating system concepts took center stage, encompassing topics like paging and deadlock.
3. DSA questions involving vectors were asked (medium level).
4. The pillars of Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs) and their real-world instances were inquired about.
5. To gauge my practical understanding, I was tasked with presenting real-world examples of the data structures I had mentioned earlier.

The interviewer was very impressed by my answers.

The interview concluded with an opportunity for me to ask questions, wherein I inquired about Samsung’s work culture.

Verdict and Beyond:

The outcome was in my favor, with a “Selected” verdict signaling my successful journey through the interview process. The immersive internship experience commenced in June 2022, and within two months, I clinched a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) in August 2022.
