It was an honor for me to be selected for an onsite interview at Salesforce, that was coordinated by the Career Development Center of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Via several interviews that included a skill evaluation, cultural fit assessment and technical checkups, I got an opportunity to show how well I know my stuff, know what Salesforce is about and how well I would fit into their culture. Each stage was a chance to showcase the ability to work well in a group, quickly figure out the solution, and have a positive attitude towards engineering software. It proved not only my eligibility for the role but also left me motivated by Salesforce’s interest in skills advancement and the innovative ideas for mission-driven work culture, where I intend to become one of the team members.

1. Preparation:

  • Be sure you fully understand the content of your CV and can talk about it fluently during the interview normalizing the experience, projects and skills.
  • Research Salesforce, products, as well as the culture of the organization. Cater to the technologies your interviewees might use, your questions should also reflect the latest progress in the firm.
  • One should solve coding problems, data structure problems, algorithm questions, and system design problems. Among the possible resources, LeetCode, HackerRank, and Cracking the Coding Interview are highly recommended ones.

2. On-campus Interview:

  • On the other hand, most of the time, campus interviews start with screening. It is a possibility to put behavioral questions to assess your communicating skills, collaboration abilities, and considering methods.
  • So be ready to have a dialogue about your personal history and how it will affect your work within the company. Point out any course projects or internships you had participated in.
  • If the question is about a technical matter, be prepared with your own potential answers. Apart from this, these could be exercises that would allow the participants to solve some real-life problems using existing codes that can affect the summary of particular technologies or existing systems.

3. Technical Rounds:

  • It can be that in the process there are several technical interviews, each of them having a specific focus that is oriented toward application developments. Be prepared to answer questions on areas such as algorithmic complexity, efficient data structures, object-oriented design, and probably complexity analysis.
  • The interviewers could ask you to create a component of an application using a whiteboard, pen, or online code editor. Attention on write (typo) on clean, tidy code as unzipping and explaining your thought process as you continue.
  • Scared to ask questions when you don’t understand the problems or what external factors negates the problems?

4. Behavioral Rounds:

  • These rides can be directed towards your social skills, analytical skills and how you can overcome the problems you may face.
  • Be prepared to chat about how you’ve dealt with conflicts, become a good team member and grappled with new experiences in the past.

5. Culture Fit:

  • Companies such as Salesforce often imply cultural fit to be the main vision. Before engaging in an interview, ensure that you know how to articulate your values, how you handle to work as a team member, and handle challenges and mistakes.
  • Demonstrate your inclination for Salesforce, and also explain why it has given you pleasure to work for the Salesforce.

6. Follow-up:

  • After attending the interview, remember to send thank-you notes to your interviewers. Demonstrate your gratitude for the chance and remind them of the emphasis you have on the job.
  • Not getting response within the expected time is normal, in this case, you might want to think about sending the recruiter or hiring manager an email regarding the status of your application.
