NMIMS Mumbai Admission Experience For MBA Program

Securing admission to the NMIMS Mumbai MBA program involved several steps, beginning with registering for the NMAT and then applying for the college itself.

NMAT Registration and Exam:

I started by registering for the NMAT exam, providing my personal information, and selecting preferred exam centres. The NMAT assessed my aptitude in various areas such as quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, language skills, and data interpretation. After completing the exam, I received my NMAT scores.

Application for NMIMS Mumbai MBA:

Following the NMAT registration and exam, I applied online for the MBA program at NMIMS Mumbai. Utilizing my NMAT scores, I provided detailed information about my academic background, work experience (if any), extracurricular activities, and personal achievements. It was important to apply for the college after registering for the NMAT exam to be eligible for consideration in their program.

Interview Preparation:

Upon being shortlisted, I dedicated significant time to preparing for the interview round. I conducted thorough research on NMIMS Mumbai, its MBA program, faculty, placement opportunities, and recent trends in the business world. Additionally, I practised answering common interview questions and participated in mock interviews to refine my responses. It’s worth noting that after being shortlisted, I also worked on crafting my Statement of Purpose (SOP), which outlined my career goals, reasons for pursuing an MBA, and how NMIMS Mumbai aligns with my aspirations. This document was an integral part of my preparation, as it helped me articulate my motivations and goals clearly.

Interview Day:

Coming to NMIMS Mumbai for this process is essential. On the day of the interview, candidates go through several rounds before the actual Personal Interview:

Round I: Written Ability Test (WAT):

The first round is the Written Ability Test (WAT), where candidates are presented with a case-based scenario and are given 20 minutes to analyze the case and provide a written response.

Round II: WATSON GLASER Test:

Following the WAT, candidates take the WATSON GLASER test, which is an aptitude test consisting of multiple sections. The test is of 30 minutes duration, and there are no time limits to review instructions and examples for each section. The timer only runs when candidates attempt each section. The test consists of 40 questions divided into 8 sections:

• Section 1: Inference
• Section 2: Recognition of Assumptions
• Section 3: Deduction
• Section 4: Interpretation
• Section 5: Evaluation of Arguments

Round III: Personal Interview:

After completing the written tests, I proceeded to the Personal Interview round, which typically lasts 15-20 minutes. During this round, I engaged in a one-on-one conversation with the interview panel, consisting of two panellists: one male in his 50s and one female in her 30s. Some of the questions asked during my Interview were:

• TMAY (Tell me about yourself).
• I was interrupted and asked a question from my introduction.
• Explanation of a GAP year.
• Why MBA?
• Can you name the top 5 IT companies in India based on market capitalization?
• What is the total revenue of the top IT firm in India?
• How do you plan to achieve your short-term and mid-term goals post-MBA?
• What are Wireframes?
• Have you ever built a mobile application?

Post-Interview and Admission Decision:

After the interview, I eagerly awaited official communication from NMIMS Mumbai regarding my admission status. I am thrilled to announce that I have been selected for the MBA Digital Transformation program at NMIMS Mumbai.
