NIT Raipur Admission Experience

It is every student’s dream to get selected in IITs, NITs or IIITs. And my dream came true, based on my percentile and rank in JEE MAIN I was able to get admission to NIT.

The college & Stream I chose NIT Raipur Information Technology (IT)

NIT RAIPUR is a central government-funded college situated in the capital city of Chhattisgarh, Raipur. It is spread across an area of 100 acres. The college offers courses such as B.Tech., M.Tech., Ph.D., B.Arch., and MCA. The college is well connected to the railway station and airport. The college campus is full of greenery and fresh air.

Eligibility Criteria: For admission to NIT, students must pass 12th from any kind of board(state or CBSE or ICSE) .

• The student must take PCM stream in their 11th and 12th.
• In 12th the student must get 75% or above to be eligible to give JEE MAIN.

Entrance Examination: The students need to give JEE MAIN exam and must clear it.

Admission Exam Experience: For JEE MAIN examination there are 3 subjects Physics, Chemistry a,d Mathematics.

• Exam Duration: 3 hours
• No. of Questions: 90
• Total marks: 360
• The paper consists of 30 questions for each subject (30*3).
• It has a negative marking.
• For every correct answer, we get +4 marks and -1 for every wrong answer.
• 2 exams(January and April ) were conducted for JEE MAIN that year and the best score out of the two was chosen for the final evaluation of ranks and college.
• If a student clears JEE MAIN, he /she is eligible for applying to NITs and to appear for JEE ADVANCE.
• If a student clears JEE ADVANCE, he/she is also eligible to apply for IIT.

I cleared JEE MAIN and I applied for NIT.

Admission Process: I cleared JEE MAIN and I applied for NIT.

• The admission process for college mainly depends on the percentile/rank you got in JEE MAIN.
• After clearing JEE MAIN, we have to apply through JOSAA. We have to fill in the preferences of the college in the registration form. On the basis of the student’s merit (rank in JEE MAIN) and his preference, the college is allotted.
• 7 rounds took place at the time of admission. On the basis of the preferences of our college, we need to select the seat.
• If the branch/college we want is allotted to us in the 1st round we can take the seat and we don’t need to apply for further rounds.
• If we are not satisfied with the branch/college we got in 1st round, we can apply for further rounds.
• After the seat is allotted to the student, one needs to go to the college in person and complete all the formalities. He/she has to do the document verification.
• The candidate needs to submit the documents like 10th marks sheet, 12th mark sheet, Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate, Character Certificate, JEE MAIN Score Card, Aadhar Card, Medical Certificate, State Domicile Certificate, Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, and all other documents specified by JOSAA.
• After all these formalities like document verification, the candidate needs to pay the admission fees.
• After the fee payment, the candidate’s seat is confirmed and the candidate has been admitted to NIT.

I got Mechanical Branch in the 1st round of JOSAA, but I was not satisfied with this branch so I applied for further rounds. In the last round, I got Electrical Branch, so I chose that branch and got admission to NIT RAIPUR.

But I was not satisfied with this branch. NIT RAIPUR provides the facility of changing the branch (sliding) after 1st year of college on the basis of merit (CPI obtained by the student in 1st year-1st and 2nd semester). So I decided to apply for sliding. And I am excited to share that I got slid from Electrical to Information Technology (my dream branch) in the 3rd semester.

P.S.: If you are not satisfied with the branch you got during admission, you can apply for sliding in 2nd year(3rd semester).

Conclusion:

From giving JEE MAIN examination to clearing it and getting admission to my dream college, all were life-changing events for me. It is one of the best achievements in my life. I will advise all the students to don’t stop dreaming and that they will definitely achieve their goals.
