HOW I HAD TO CHOSE LPU:

It was the time when I completed my higher secondary examinations and decided to appear for JEE exams. After the 3rd attempt in the same year (2021), I realized that I wouldn’t be able to get the domain I was interested in a government college. As a result, rather than dropping a year, I chose to get admission to a private college. After searching and attempting admission tests for several universities and looking at the reviews, ratings and rankings, I finally chose Lovely Professional University (LPU) to pursue my graduation degree in Computer Science Engineering. the main reasons for choosing this University are its magnificent campus covering an area of 600 acres, mind-blowing infrastructure, diversity of students and high security. Also, recently the University was awarded with the NAAC A++ grading which means this institution allows students to participate in various activities, events, seminars etc. and has an institutional CGPA of 3.68 out of 4-point scale.

WAY TO TAKE ADMISSION IN THIS UNIVERSITY:

To get admission done in this University, you need to appear for the LPUNEST examination which is 420 marks has a duration of 150 minutes and consists of subjects like English (60 marks), Mathematics (100 marks), Aptitude (60 marks), Physics (100 marks) and Chemistry (100 marks). There is no negative marking. You need to qualify for this test with at least 40% marks to become eligible for admission and have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in (10+2).

MY EXPERIENCE:

It was a great experience for me during the admission process as the admission department of this University is very serious and does tasks with great discipline. I qualified for the LPUNEST test with 275 marks (which means category 2) and I got a scholarship of 25% (as I appeared in phase III of the admissions). In general, there are three phases where one student can be admitted to this college. Phase I is the period between the early months of the year where you get the opportunity to obtain the highest scholarship up to 60%. Phase II is the mid-month of the year, where you get a maximum scholarship of 45%. Phase III is the period between August and October when you can get a maximum of 30% scholarship and get enrolled in the School of B.Tech CSE department.

There are also three category cutoffs for ensuring how many scholarships you get based on the marks you achieve. (All these are for the maximum scholarship):

  • Category 1: 320 or more out of 420.
  • Category 2: 240 or more out of 420.
  • Category 3: 165 or more out of 420.

The people in the admission department are very friendly, and they gave me a few forms to fill up once I entered the University. There is also an anti-ragging form to ensure no student does ragging in this University, or else one should be suspended. A few parent consent forms are also given to the parents to read carefully and fill up accordingly. It is a very simple and easy process to get admission to this institution. The only thing you need is to secure good marks in 10+2 and try to get as high marks as you can in the LPUNEST test.

FOOD:

Here, you will get pure vegetarian food and if you eat non-veg, then there is a food court inside the campus where you can eat whatever you like inside that food court, but you are not allowed to do packaging of any kind of non-vegetarian food and the University is very strict about it. There are sudden visits by the security guards in your hostel room for checking or investigating. Overall, now the mess food is good to consume daily. It is divided into a few categories (all amounts are for two semesters i.e. 10 months): 40000 INR for 4 meals, 35000 INR for 3 meals (except evening snacks), 30000 INR for 2 meals (only Lunch and Dinner), 30000 INR (only breakfast and dinner). Based on your preferences you can choose accordingly.

HOSTEL:

The hostel is a good and safest place for a student to stay during the entire graduation degree. The hostel is also divided into different seaters from dormitory rooms, 4 seaters, 3 seaters, 2 seaters, and 1 seater to apartments (which is the most expensive). the hostel wardens are very helpful. If you face any problem or difficulty, you just visit the warden’s office (but the office closes at 10 pm) or call the respective warden at any time. I would suggest you stay in hostels rather than outside of campus as you will get most of the benefits inside the campus from 24/7 hospital facilities to the packaging of the preferred type of food from the mess during illness.

EDUCATION:

I will be describing the education and faculties of the Computer Science department. But as I heard from my roommates throughout these years, I can say that the faculties are awesome in other departments like Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, BBA, MBA, Agriculture etc.

The education system here is good but you must have the ability to handle the load of assignments, Continuous Exams, and self-learning at the same time and match the pace. Numerous subjects are taught during the 4-year course, i.e. a total of almost 56 subjects. The faculties are great especially the older teachers who have an experience of over 8-10 years. The newer ones are not good at the beginning as they don’t have adequate experience but later, they become good. I would suggest you ask as many questions as possible you have to the teachers because the teachers would only explain the content they have with them. Overall, there will be many assignments and continuous assessments (CAs) that play a major role/effect on the overall result of a course.

CONCLUSION:

I would like to encourage you to enrol in this University if you want to explore yourself and if you are an introvert. You will get an ample number of chances or opportunities to showcase your talents or convert yourself to the way of being an extrovert. unless you don’t want to (like me????).

This is a good University and you are willing to get yourself enrolled in it. In the end, I would like to wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Happy Learning!!!
