- The JEE Main exam is the primary mode of admission required to be admitted to NITs. You can choose the college and stream based on your JEE Main rank.
- After you meet the eligibility criteria set by the NITs, you can appear for counseling and can sit for the seat allocation where you can choose the college depending upon your rank.

What is the fee structure for NITs?
The Council, which serves as the regulatory body for all NITs, is consulted when MHRD establishes the fee structure for NITs. The annual tuition is Rs. 62,500 along with the hostel fees ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs.40,000.
Which is better IITs or NITs?
Although IITs and NITS are proficient in providing education, IITs have an edge due to their advanced curriculum.
What are the top NITs to apply for after JEE Main?
While all NITs are equally impressive in terms of infrastructure and staff, some colleges such as NIT Trichy, NIT Karnataka, NIT Rourkela, NIT Warangal, and NIT Calicut are preffered over others.
How many NITs are there in total?
There are a total of 31 of them. All of them are classified under the Autonomous Public Higher Institutions of India. Of the 31 NITs, 11 are relatively newly established and the remaining 20 are old engineering schools.
