I completed my classes 10th and 12th from a CBSE decent school where I had no clue about jee mains or advance and all that stuff.

I was a very bright student till my class 10th I also score 95% in my 10th. I was not so inclined towards another subject apart from maths. All of sudden under my parental guidance I started preparing for my jee exam from a local but well-known coaching institute (in Kanpur). Like everyone I struggled with the subjects, especially with maths and organic chemistry but physics was my fav. one. Since my basics or we can say the foundation was not well established so I got too many problems in the subject but that dint let my love for my fav subject come down so I kept on doing things. I ended up pretty well clearing mains with flying colors later on I also cracked VITEEE .

NOTE: See after reading this you might feel that it’s very unobvious or unconventional but trust me I too can say you to go and solve IE Irodov, Pathfinder, Cengage (bm sharma) or Arhiant 6 books for maths and N Avasthi for chemistry but that doesn’t work in every condition also you have to take care of time and your syllabus. What is practical and what is needed I am going to tell you that. Which will ultimately lead you to some positive results.

Exam Format: It goes like

  • Mathematics: 25 questions ( 20 mcq+ 5 integer type)
  • Physics: 25 questions ( 20 mcq+ 5 integer type)
  • Chemistry: 25 questions ( 20 mcq+ 5 integer type)

For each of 4 marks and for the MCQ part there is a negative marking of -1. So in total, this comprises 300 marks.

Subjects to focus more on:

Start with chemistry as it is the easiest one (if you are good at organic chemistry). Try to cover chemistry nicely and aim to score the highest in it.

After chemistry focus more on physics than maths because maths is the toughest one so even if you solve 10 or 12 questions out of 25 your percentile in the subject will easily touch the mark of 95. Else if you want to be the topper it’s always a saying in JEE community that math brings out the topper so you can go according to that.

Preparation Strategies:

Coaching (Online vs Offline):

See if you are a dropper and have a little bit of idea about the subject, you better choose online coaching.

If you are in just class 11th so better go for any offline coaching but make sure it’s a good one else you will end up losing both time and money

Books: If you are in a coaching institute offline then must go with the coaching material and then you can follow the MTG’s previous year’s questions for each subject. Even if after all these you are left with some time( not possible) then try solving HCV for physics and old advanced pyq’s for maths also You can read NCERT for chemistry.

If you are in an online coaching My recommendations are a bit unconventional but will give you the best results

Follow the lectures and do the DPPs

  • Physics -DC PANDEY VOL 5 books (level one all questions + random questions from level 2) +Hcv (solved examples are compulsory)
  • Chemistry – Ncert for inorganic dpp and pyq for organic and physical (solve all pyq from 2009 till your year of exam)
  • Mathermatics- DPP+Past year question of jee advance (from 2010 to 2016) + all jee mains pyq .

Summary:

Follow these things and remember consistency is the key, you will face problems for sure but keep grinding, do it multiple times you will clear it for sure. If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at adarshashokbaghel@gmail.com.
