Introduction:

The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination, or IIT-JEE, is a prestigious exam in India. This exam helps to take the biggest colleges in India for Engineering. This examination has two phases, the first one is JEE-Main and the second one is JEE-Advanced. So in this article, I’m going to share my preparation journey for JEE-Main.

Coaching:

After passing the 10th examination, I decided to take the coaching for the JEE-Main paper, but after the 11th standard, my offline classes closed due to some issues. So then in 12th standard, I learned from Youtube and covered the required topic for JEE-Main. I followed too many YouTube channels.

Mistakes of my preparation:

ffdrawio

Because I was learning from Youtube and following too many Channels, I never learnt the exact path for examination due to the lack of guidance and coaching. Whatever I want to learn I was learning through Youtube and sometime I spend too many hours on one concept, which was totally irrelevant. Specially In case of Physics I did the JEE-Advanced Questions as well at the time of preparation of JEE-Main. And due to this, I was unable to complete the syllabus of other subjects and even whole physics also.

Take aways:

  • Never learn outside of the syllabus.
  • Give equal weightage to all subjects.
  • If you like any subject then it’s one advantage but never skip other subjects as well.
  • Follow exactly one path for covering the syllabus.
  • If you learn from online classes then follow them and never fall into the trap of other videos.

Format of JEE-Main Paper:

Subject

Section A (MCQs)

Section B (Numerical Value)

Total Marks

Mathematics

20

10 (need to answer 5)

100

Physics

20

10 (need to answer 5)

100

Chemistry

20

10 (need to answer 5)

100

Result:

I qualified the criteria for JEE-Advanced but I was sure that I’m not going to crack that one. Because I didn’t have any coaching and no availability of lectures for JEE-Advanced for free. So I declined to give JEE-Advanced.

Conclusion:

Never go into the trap of multiple resources of the internet, if you got any one resource follow it well. And the most important thing is if you like any subject then it doesn’t mean it will give you a extra marks other 200 marks will be from other two subjects only. So try to give equally time to all subject.
