JEE Full Form

The abbreviation JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. It is an engineering entrance test that is conducted all over India once a year. It is helpful in taking admission to engineering institutes. This examination includes two separate tests namely JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Both these tests are conducted online. The cut-off score for these exams is fixed by the exam instructing agency, NTA i.e. National Testing Agency, and the cutoff is different for different categories of students.

• JEE Main: It was previously known as AIEEE. It is helpful in booking a seat in NIT, government as well as private engineering colleges in India.
• JEE Advanced: It was previously known as IIT-JEE. Which helps in booking a seat in IIT, NIT, and many government colleges in India.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main

The eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Main are as follows:

1. A candidate must have a science background with PCM (physics, chemistry, and maths) as their main subjects.
2. A general category student must pass the 12th standard exam with at least 75% marks or they must be in the top 20 percentile.
3. The minimum score for students appearing in SC/ST category should be 65%.
4. There is no age limit for students appearing in this examination.
5. The candidates who have already taken the examination for 3 successive years are not eligible for JEE Mains.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced

The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced are as follows:

1. The candidates must qualify for JEE Main to appear for JEE Advanced i.e. their ranks must be under 2.5 lacs in JEE Main.
2. The maximum age of the general category student should be 25 years and for SC/ST it should be 30 years.
3. A student who has taken this exam for 2 continuous years is not eligible for this test.
4. A candidate who has already been admitted to any IIT is not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

• Physics: The topics of this subject includes, physics and measurement, kinematics, power, laws of motion, gravitation, current electricity, oscillations, magnetism, communication systems, atoms, dual nature of matter, magnetic effects of current, thermodynamics, electronic devices, waves, optics, electromagnetic waves, electromagnetic induction, kinetic theory of gases, nuclei, rotational motion, properties of solids and liquids, alternating currents, radiation, and electrostatics.
• Chemistry: The topics to be covered in chemistry are, basic concepts in chemistry, solutions, chemical bonding, redox reactions, surface chemistry, equilibrium, atomic structure, states of matter, electrochemistry, chemical thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, characterization and purification of organic compounds, polymers, hydrocarbons, principles of practical chemistry, basics of organic chemistry, oxygen, halogens, and organic nitrogen compounds, chemistry in everyday life, biomolecules, periodicity, hydrogen, group 13 to group 18 elements, environmental chemistry, d block, f block elements, classification of elements, alkaline earth metals, alkali metals, isolation of metals, and coordination compounds.
• Mathematics: It includes sets, relations, functions, matrices, determinants, binomial theorem, mathematical induction, differentiability, trigonometry, differential equations, coordinate geometry, complex numbers, 3D geometry, permutations combinations, quadratic equations, limits, continuity, sequence series, statistics, vector algebra, integral calculus, mathematical reasoning, and probability.
• Aptitude: Its topics include, visualizing 3D objects from 2D drawings, visualizing different sides of 3D objects, awareness of persons, places, buildings, materials, objects, and texture connected to architecture and build-environment, 3D perception and appreciation of scale as well as the proportion of objects, mental ability, color texture, and analytical reasoning.
• Drawings: It includes sketching activities from the memory of urbanscape, landscape, and rural life.
• Planning: This subject covers general awareness associated with development issues, government policies, reviewing the analytical skills of the students, and CBSE class 10 social sciences.
