ITER Bhubaneswar Campus Experience

1. About My college

‘Siksha O Anusandhan‘ (SOA) University or ‘Institute of technical education and Research‘ (ITER) was founded in the year 1996. ITER is one of the institutes of SOA which is mostly famous for engineering. It is one of the renowned institutes of Odisha which is situated in Bhubaneshwar. This institute provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of research and development. ITER is a private institutional body that provides wide courses in the field of engineering but ‘Computer Science’ is most common among the students.

2. My experience in this College

I had a stunning experience in this college. Actually, college is the time when students find freedom and independence which helps them to know about their strengths and weaknesses. It’s a significant transition as you leave your home and you have more control over your schedule and lifestyle.

a.) Academics:- As I said earlier this course provides a wide range of technical and non-technical coursed but engineering is most common and especially Computer Science. In the first year, the curriculum is a bit easier and you can manage everything with greater ease. In the second year, the load increase a little bit as some core subjects are included such as ‘Algorithm Design’ , ‘Web Development’ ‘Digital Logic’, and ‘Computer Organization and Architecture’. These subjects are important from both perspectives, that is, for placements and for Gate preparations. The college third year is the most challenging time and requires greater self-discipline and time management. You have to manage both the academics as well as the placement preparations. And lastly, in the fourth year, the workload again decreases as you just have to focus on major projects.

b.) Social Life:- College offers plenty of opportunities to make friends and engage in social activities. Joining clubs, and attending events will help you to connect with the like-minded people around you. Some of the major clubs were Photography Club, NSS, NCC, Coding Club, etc.

c.) Faculties:- The faculties are very good and they are always ready to help us and I’m fortunate to experience exceptional ones among them. All the faculties encourage open discussions, value our opinions and provide valuable insights. With their support and knowledge, one can easily understand any of the complex topics. The faculties were really supportive and always ready to show the right path.

3. Placements

My college has had impressive placement stats in recent years. Many companies across diverse sectors have visited our campus and provided opportunities to the students. Some of the renowned companies were Deloitte, KPMG, E&Y, Infosys, Oracle, Cisco, etc. Last year the average package was nearly about 4.5 – 5.5 lakhs per annum and in particularly Computer Science department it was nearly 6.0 – 6.5 lakhs per annum. These stats are sufficient to show how good a reputation our college holds in this sector.
