I am a final-year CSE student. Recently, IDFC First Bank came to our campus to hire an Application Engineer. Students from CSE and IT were allowed to participate. The process consisted of 3 rounds. I have detailed all the rounds and the hiring process below:

Round 1: Pre-Placement + Online Assessment

The initial phase of the interview process took place on the HirePro platform and consisted of three segments:

  1. Aptitude Test (20 mins): This section comprised 15 multiple-choice questions covering Quantitative Mathematics and Logical Reasoning.
  2. Technical Questions (25 mins): This part included 20 multiple-choice questions spanning topics such as SQL, MS Excel, Programming Basics, and Basic Statistics.
  3. Coding Questions (45 mins): Two coding questions were presented, one related to trees and another to matrices, both of which were relatively straightforward.

A total of 16 students successfully advanced to the next round.

Tips: Ideally, try to make both codes work to move on to the next round. If that’s not possible, at least aim to run one code successfully to pass all the test cases.

Round 2: Technical Interview 1

This round, conducted on Microsoft Teams, had a duration of approximately 15 minutes. The interviewer was friendly and initiated the conversation by introducing himself. The following topics were discussed:

  1. Introduction: The interviewer requested a brief introduction
  2. Project Discussion: Questions centered around my projects, with a focus on a project that involves Three.js. The interviewer inquired about the project’s motivation, the technology stack employed, and general questions like recent advancements in gaming technology.
  3. Technical Questions: A query about callback functions in Node.js was posed, and although I couldn’t answer it correctly, the interviewer remained understanding.

The interviewer asked if I had any questions and I asked about the training programs offered at IDFC. 7 candidates proceeded to the next stage.

Tips: Your confidence level is tested here, so try to be confident while answering questions.

Round 3: Technical + HR Interview

This combined technical and HR interview spanned approximately 12 minutes and involved two interviewers. The discussion covered the following areas:

  1. Personal Background: Questions about the candidate’s hometown and educational background were asked.
  2. Project-related Questions: The interviewers delved into my final year project, which was based on Machine Learning. They looked into how the project works and asked a scenario question. They wanted to know what you would do if you needed to divide long texts into positive and negative parts (the correct answer was sentiment analysis).
  3. HR Questions: Questions regarding my strengths and weaknesses were asked.

Following the evaluation ,the results were declared the following day, 6 candidates were successfully selected, and I was fortunate to be one of them.
