HP Inc. Interview Experience for Internship+FTE (On-Campus) 2023

HP Inc. visited our campus recently for recruitment of freshers passing out in 2024 for internship + performance-based full-time conversion. It has 4 rounds in total – Online test, Technical Interview, Managerial Interview, and HR interview. online test was a completely virtual process and the remaining 3 sections were conducted on campus.

After the registrations, shortlisted students above 8 CGPA.

A total of 187 students were shortlisted for the online test.

Round 1 (Online test 75 mins):

The platform of 1st round was the Hire Pro platform. The first round comprised some MCQ questions, including aptitude, logical, C output questions, data structures and algorithms, English language, and technical portions. There are two coding questions in the coding round

  • Part 1 – Aptitude Questions (Medium Difficulty): Questions on probability, ratio and proportions, Interest, Profit and loss, Time and work, Age problems, Logical reasoning, and Basic Mathematics.
  • Part 2 -Technical Questions (Medium Difficulty): Questions mainly on C, Data Structures And Algorithms, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and Cloud Computing.
  • Part 3 – 2 Coding questions: Difficulty level -> Medium

Had the option to either take C/C++/java/python. I chose the Python option.

Suggestion: I would suggest practising from sites like GeeksforGeeks, leetcode, etc., as it will give you the confidence to solve problems.

Around 51 students were shortlisted for three rounds of interviews, completed in a single day.

Round 2 Technical Interview(30 mins -45 mins):

In this round, the questions were based on my resume and my technical background.

It was of medium level and depended on your Interviewer and branch. The interviewer was a bit friendly. They preferred CS as they were looking for candidates with good knowledge of Data structures, OS, and Computer Networks, DBMS.

Questions on OS topics like memory, scheduling algorithms, and other definitions from the subject.

The questions were as follows:

  • Tell me about yourself
  • What programming languages are you aware of?
  • Tell the difference between Java and c.
  • Write a circular linked list program and Explain about a Circular linked list.
  • Tell about pointers.
  • Explain about Object Oriented Programming Concepts.
  • Tell about memory Leak. and write a program for memory leakage(Dynamic memory allocation)?
  • Write a program in C to convert a string to a number.
  • Asked about ACID properties of DBMS.
  • What is a deadlock?

Finally, ask if you have any doubts or questions.

Round 3 Managerial Interview(20-30 mins):

Tell me about yourself. Then, some questions from the resume (except technical parts). Questions from resume like interest/hobbies, extra-curricular activities.

Started with a brief explanation of projects (prepare them thoroughly).

  • Tell me briefly about your project.
  • Tell me about the phases in SDLC(Software Development Life Cycle).
  • What is your parent’s occupation?
  • Why do you want to join HP?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • Tell me about your weakness.
  • Which challenges you are faced in the project

Finally, ask if you have any doubts or questions.

Round 4 HR Round(10 – 20 mins):

Tell me about yourself. General HR questions (almost similar to managerial round) –

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why should we hire you?
  • Where do you see yourself after 5 years?
  • Are you ready to relocate?

Finally, ask if you have any doubts or questions.

After 15 days, the results were announced and I got selected for the Intern + Full-time role. A total of 10 students were selected from my college.
