In this article, we will learn how can we enable JavaScript in our browser.

Sometimes, the application we work on or many websites that we visit might not work in our browser. One of the main reasons why this might happen is JavaScript is disabled in our browser. This is a major issue and the applications run on such a browser might fail or misbehave. In this article, we aim to fix this issue in the browser to keep the apps running seamlessly.


To make sure that JavaScript is enabled on your browser or to enable it in case it is disabled, we would use the existing tools and settings of the particular browser in question. Every browser has a slightly different method to do so and here we will cover most of the popular browsers in question. We will see how to enable JavaScript in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.

  1. Step by Step Implementation to enable JavaScript in Google Chrome:
  • Step 1: Open Google Chrome and on the top right, click More > Settings. 
  • Step 2: Go to the setting tab, open Advanced.
  • Step 3: Now in Privacy and security > Site settings.
  • Step 4: Go to Content section of Site Setting, open JavaScript
  • Step 5: Select Sites can use JavaScript under the Default section or customize according to your convenience.

2. Step by Step Implementation to enable JavaScript in Mozilla Firefox:

  • Step 1: In the FireFox browser tab; address bar > type about:config > press enter.
  • Step 2: Click accept risk and continue.
  • Step 3: Type javascript.enabled in the search box.
  • Step 4: Now toggle between the preference to enable/disable.


3. Step by Step Implementation to enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer:

  • Step 1: Open More > Settings.
  • Step 2: Search for JavaScript in the search bar and under All permissions > JavaScript.
  •  Step 3: Now turn on Allowed. 

4. Step by Step Implementation to enable JavaScript in Safari: 

  • Step 1: Go to Tools > Preferences.
  • Step 2: Now go to Preferences > Security Tab.
  • Step 3: Finally go to Security Tab > Enable JavaScript.
