GRE is the most widely used exam for taking admissions for undergraduate as well as postgraduate students. GRE is an exam required for postgraduate courses required to study abroad. This exam is accepted by around 1500 universities all over the world. GRE is an examination that a lot of people in India are trying to crack as it is required for universities to take admission abroad. It’s an important step for the candidate who is preparing to leave their home and study abroad.

What is the GRE Exam?

GRE is a general test conducted by ETS. GRE stands for Graduate Record Examination widely referred to as GRE. The GRE general test is one of the largest assessment tests important for admission to engineering, business, law or management courses for a candidate and is accepted by a lot of universities and colleges worldwide. GRE is a general test to measure the overall potential and overall academic intelligence of a candidate wanting to pursue a degree.

Through this test, the skills of a candidate are evaluated such as analytical skills, verbal learning skills, grammatical skills, etc. There is also a GRE Subject Test which is specially dedicated to a specific subject. GRE test has these four subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Psychology. GRE test scores are available 10-15 days after the test and will be accepted by most universities worldwide.

GRE Revised Fees

Candidates who are willing to appear for this examination must know the fee structure of the GRE General Test and also the GRE Subject Test. Candidates should pay a GRE test fee of 22,550 INR according to last year. Candidates who are opting for the GRE subject test are required to pay a GRE Subject Test fee of 14,500 INR according to last year.

GRE Exam Fees 2024

Candidates who are appearing for the exam in the year 2024 should note the exam form fees or exam registration fees. The registration fees for the GRE General test is 22,550 Indian rupees and the GRE Subject Test fee is approximately 14,500 INR.

Worldwide GRE Application Fee in 2024 and Related Charges

The GRE test charges 22,550 rupees in India and 220 dollars in every other part of the world except China where China costs 231 dollars for the registration. Candidates paying the fee can use different methods for online payment. The Dynamic Currency Conversion (DOC) option is available which allows the candidate to pay the test fees in their home currency rather than foreign currency.

Candidates can use their credit card or debit card which can be local or international. Due to the tremendous use of UPI by today’s generation, payment of the test fees can also be done by using UPI. The payment should be online and can’t be accepted in cash form.

There are score-related tests too. After the release of the GRE results, students can send their scores up to 4 universities which are covered in the application fees. If the candidate wishes to send the scores to more than 4 universities, Students can order an additional score report which is 35 dollars each and 2900 INR. Also If the candidate is not satisfied with their GRE test total marks they can apply for rechecking and the fee for rechecking is 50 dollars and 5000 INR for India.

GRE Cancellation Fees/GRE Rescheduling Fees

Due to any avoidable reasons if a candidate wants to cancel their GRE test or wants to reschedule the test can apply for the same but while cancelling the test candidate gets 50% refund and not the whole fees.

But one can cancel or reschedule the GRE test no later than 4 days before your GRE test date. Rescheduling people’s GRE test date you need to initiate the process by paying the fees 50 dollars and 5000 INR for India citizens.

GRE Special Handling Requests India Rates

There are many types of handling fees that are applied if one wants to make some changes to the GRE test dates or anything. If one wants to reschedule the GRE test date one needs to pay 5000 INR to initiate the process. If a candidate wants to change their center it can be changed & the fee for changing the center is 5000 INR.

If one wants to change a subject test they will have to pay 5000 INR.
If one wants a copy of their score report they’ll have to pay 2900 INR.
Also if someone is not satisfied with their GRE exam score they can apply for rechecking and the fee for rechecking is 5000 INR.

Accepted GRE Payment Modes in India

GRE registration fees can be paid by different methods and the payment must be done online and not in the cash format. The following payment modes are accepted in India to pay the fee of the GRE test:

Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro credit card and debit cards (Local/International)
Rupay Credit Cards and Debit Cards (Local/International)
UPI and Bharat QR payments including the following digital apps: Freecharge, Payzapp, Google pay, Mobikwik , Jiomoney ,PhonePe, Amazon Pay, Paytm and all BHIM UPI enabled apps.
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) for Visa and MasterCards issued outside India is also supported.

GRE Special Handling Request

Candidates wanting to avail of additional services will have to pay additional charges. The charges for special handling are as given below:

The GRE test Late Registration fee is 25 dollars.
The GRE stand-by testing fee is 25 dollars.
The GRE changing the test centre fee is 50 dollars.
The GRE rescheduling fee for the world is 50 dollars.
The GRE rescheduling fee for China is 53.90 dollars.
The GRE subject change fee is 50 dollars.
The GRE score reinstatement fee is 50 dollars.
The GRE score review in writing measure is 60 dollars.
The GRE additional score report (ASR) fee is 35 dollars.
