I had an interview experience with Grape City, and I’d like to share it with you. The company visited our college to conduct interviews for two profiles: Trainee – DRE and Trainee – QA. Here’s how it all went down:

Initial Shortlisting: Initially, 130 students were shortlisted from those who had filled out forms on our college campus. GrapeCity had specific criteria for shortlisting, which could have been based on factors like percentage resumes, or perhaps a combination of both.

ROUND 1 [Pen and Paper Test]:

On the day of the interview, all 130 shortlisted students gathered at the college. The first two rounds of the interview were conducted one after the other on the same day.

  • TEST-1 (Logical and Reasoning): The first round consisted of five reasoning-type questions, which were pattern-based. This round tested our logical thinking abilities.
  • TEST-2 (Coding): In this round, we were given pen and paper to write code and predict the output of five questions. It wasn’t multiple-choice questions; we had to write the actual output. Code was provided only in C++.
  • TEST-3 (Project Description Round): Following the coding round, GrapeCity showed us a video, and afterward, we were given a paper to write about the projects we had worked on so far. This round aimed to assess our practical experience and project knowledge.

Each of these rounds had a tight time constraint, typically around 10-15 minutes.

After the first round, 26 students were shortlisted based on their scores. Interestingly, even students who scored 0 marks in the first logical and coding tests were considered if they had impressive projects to showcase.

ROUND 2 [HR Round]:

The next stage was the HR round. During this interview, the HR team primarily focused on our projects, asking us about the tools and technologies we had used. This round typically lasted around 20-25 minutes.

After the HR round, only 5 students were selected, unfortunately, I was not one of them.

ROUND 3 [Technical Round]:

In the final round, which took place a few days later, the interview process involved engaging in inquisitive conversations. Questions about object-oriented programming (OOPs) and system design were asked as confirmed from my colleagues. Ultimately, no one from our college was selected in this final round.

While I didn’t make it to the final selection, the interview process at GrapeCity was quite comprehensive and gave us a good opportunity to showcase our skills and knowledge. It was a valuable experience that allowed me to learn and grow from the feedback and insights gained during the process.
